Thoughts and prayers to your niece and all the extended family. As divided as this war has made our world, I am 100% sure that his contribution to the betterment of it, to the lives of those who he believed in, his contribution adds something positive to all.

God bless all our troops and their families.

Is anyone else eligible to receive funeral honors?
Yes. Members of the Commissioned Officer Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as members of a Uniformed Service, are also eligible to receive funeral honors.

NOAA is the 7th uniformed service of the US. Yes, NOAA has an Officer Training School in Connecticut... the first 2 years of their service is on the NOAA Oceanic boats, then where ever their orders take them. NOAA officers fly on the P-3 Orion Hurricane Hunters. Their ranks are Navy ranks (Ensign, LT jr. Grade, LT, etc)

I certainly will take time, in a quiet moment, to reflect on this man at 9:30am. He will be missed.

This was the hardest funeral i've ever attended. Mark was a beautiful person, loved life and was such an unselfish man.

The church was standing room only. The service was beautiful. The graveside service was attended by about 300 people. A military funeral is amazing. The 21 gun salute, the bugle player playing taps, the soldiers folding up the American Flag with such awe and reverence. The PatriotGuard was there honoring Mark. It was an honor to have known Mark.

We had a celebration of Marks life after the services. All his family and friends gathered at his brothers home for food, beverages (of your choice!) and memories. There was even an informal jam session in the garage (thanks to the rain)

Thank you to each and everyone of you for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.

I'm so glad everything went well today. At least he's home, in more ways than one!
