You are right A2K - at this point it is nothing but speculation. Especially since the Boulder DA is being very cautious at this point in time. Interesting indeed.....

Yes, but it is fun to throw our ideas in. I sure hope they can solve this and give the family closure. I am sure DNA testing will show a lot.

I'm no detective but IMO John Karr is not the killer of Jon Benet Ramsey.
To many inconsistencies.
We shall see.

if he is the killer he was certainly foolhardy. killing the girl in an occupied house, then staying there for what he admits must have been hours committing the crime and writing and re-writing 3 page ransom notes full of details that i have a hard time believing he could know, and writing the note in a military sounding fashion.

to me, it seems more likely the ramseys killed her, likely not intentionally, and then concocted this ransom story in a haphazard manner. i cant believe a man would break in, then risk being discovered by virtually camping out in the house for hours.
if his dna is found on her, then there is no doubt of his guilt. until then, there is plenty of doubt

Maybe he was down in the basement longer then people thought. Maybe he was down there for a couple days or so. I am sure the family was out buying groceries and presents for Christmas, etc. Maybe he was just hiding till the right time.

I am going to change my Storm2k nickname to Columbo....

LOL at Columbo, my hubby loves him. Good thought Janice, that house is so huge he could have hid in alot of places for a day or so, and even maybe entered the home while they were there and the doors where left unlocked. There is a ton of scenerios one could come up with. I can't wait to hear how this whole thing unfolds.

nothing explains the ransom note, other than it was written by one of the ramsey's.

lets assume he hid in the house for a day or more, which seems rather far fetched. that still doesnt explain why he would stay in the house for hours killing the girl and risking capture. why not take her and spend days with her? isnt that the usual sop for child killers/molesters?

Why one of the Ramseys? If he personally knew one of them, he may have known all that information. If he was in the house for a long period of time, or several times, he may have gone thru their records and found out all this information. He could have seen something indicating he received that amount of money. How do you know it took hours to kill her. It doesn't take long to beat someone to death, especially a small child. He could have written the note way earlier, a day or so, and brought the extras along just to throw people off.

its the first time i have ever heard of a crook bring his rough draft ransom notes with him. was he savvy enough to use so much military jargon as well? as far how i know it took him hours? because he says so. and lets face it, the only reason so many believe he is guilty now is because, he says so.

i was just listening to dr micheal baden. he was pointing out the girl had a baseline skullfracture that probably didnt kill her. she was killed by being garrotted. here is what i think happened. patsy ramsey got mad at jon benet, hit her really hard and she hit her head and fractured her skull. her and her husband then paniced and staged a scene that made it look like a psycho killed here

one other thing, it snowed before that night and snow covered the ground. maybe the guy got in the house before it snowed, but its impossible he waited till the snow melted to leave. yet, no one noticed or reported footprints around the house in the snow.

dr baden alsi said there was no indication of a "fresh" sexual assualt on jon benet

dna can mean alot of things. it doesnt need to mean hairs or semen or blood. they found dna under her fingernails as well. that could be from playing with a kid 2 days before. thats the key. if they have a dna match with mr karr, then its over for him

Yes I know this. That was why I asked about it since dr. what-ever-his-name-was said there is no evidence of a "fresh" sexual assault. I also asked about the DNA under her fingernails. From what I've read they feel certain it is from the killer and got there when she was fighting for her life.

I wonder how much they may have held back from the autopsy report? Things that only the killer would know.....

it was in the autopsy report no drugs were in her system, yet he says he drugged her. dr baden also said he thinks its a false confession.

here is one thing thats tough to explain away. a blanket of snow covered the area that night, yet no one, including the police noticed any sign of footprints leading to or away from any entry area to the house

The ransom note was written on a pad that was part of the Ramsey household! One key piece of evidence that pointed at a family member. Usually a kidnapper brings a short ransom note with them.

doubts being raised:

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/h ... 61,00.html

But investigators in Thailand have told the Associated Press that Karr has made several other statements to them, including claims that he picked JonBenet up from school the day she was killed and that he drugged her. JonBenet was on Christmas vacation at the time, so school was not in session, and there was no evidence of drugs found in JonBenet’s body during the autopsy.

No. Actually, it's quite unusual for child molestors who also kill their victims to spend days with them.

In three out of four cases, the victim is dead within three hours of the abduction and the murder happens within 24 hours 94% of the time.

but what % do that in a fully occupied house and spend hours doing it, while leaving not 1 footprint around any entry area of the house coming or going?

My thoughts exactly..also from the investigation.

I heard Karr talking with the "interviewer" a while ago and he said that he had contacted(or tried to) the parents before Patsy died. Odd! I also heard him say that he commited the murder and when asked to go into detail he said something to the effect of it would take too long to explain all the details. I thought - HUH?

Why is homeland security involved? I saw a couple news outlets quote someone named Ann Hurst of the Department of Homeland Security.
