Well it looks like this is it. One of Saddam's lawyers was just on CNN and seemed to have given up(though he carried on about the trial being unjust and blah, blah, blah, whatever).

I doubt YouTube would be a source for the news yet. And look how many supposed Steve Irwin death videos were on YT (when, in fact, no video was ever released).

I'll wait to see something on the real stations first.

I'm ready to start yelling, "Git-r-done!"

Question is which news station/site is going to get the news first?

I'm watching Fox.

Isn't it about 10 minutes until 6:00 AM over there?

Yep. I expect to hear something by 10:30pm ET... or at least, I hope.

Drudge has a DOUBLE siren! I've never seen that before.

Fox reporting now that Saddam has reached the execution site, all preparations are final (not sure if that means the noose is around his neck), and witnesses are present.

TV station in Iraq reports execution took place 10 minutes ago. No confirmation yet. Al-Arabiya says it's the "end of Saddam".

The way I understand it, the execution has taken place (lever pulled, panel beneath his feet opened, body dropped, etc.). However, he may not be officially dead yet. Like I said before, I won't get into the gruesome aspects of hanging deaths, but his heart may still beat for about a half hour after the initial hanging. His brain may be dead, but I think they let someone hang for a while until total death is achieved.

Crap...just as I thought -- heavy rain killed my satellite reception. At least, I got the big part of the news.

Breaking News:

Saddam Hussein has been executed, Iraqi media reports

That was from Yahoo! so...a bunch of stations all reporting the same thing typically means that its done...
