What are you watching this summer?

Well, Jan lets loose at the party, there was simmering resentment on her part, she made digs at Michael all night long. Calling him babe but Michael tried to keep the party moving and the banter light. She was describing how tense she gets but then she just has to go to her candle room. I think Jan is bipolar or something. She wants to control Michael. Poor guy.....he is a misguided fellow. Clueless yes but not mean spirited. Anyway, he was showing off the world's smallest plasma screen and Jan threw something at it, crashing the screen. This was after Michael put up his St. Pauli Girl beer sign, next to the dining room table. Also they had blue plastic sheeting up where the sliding glass door was supposed to be, b/c Michael thought it was open and walked into the glass, shattering it. Jan put him down yet again b/c he thought it was open. The entire dinner party was tense, from start to finish! A neighbor called the police because of all the shouting (on Jan's part), so the cops asked Michael if he had a place to go to for the night (to which I have to ask, isn't the condo his and in his name, shouldn't Jan have to go somewhere? Like the psych ward?). He quickly looked at Jim but Jim tried a bogus excuse to get away from the party (landlord calling to say he had a flood in his apt.). He said oh no, my apt. had a fire, but quickly says, no flood.....Dwight offers his home to Michael. Michael also had said at one point, that he thought Jan was trying to poison him, just as Jan puts a plate of food in front of Pam. The look on Pam's face......so none of them ate. That's why they were having burgers or ice cream at the show ended.
Brent - about ER, I think it should have ended a few seasons ago. Around 10 would have been nice. It's almost as if NBC forgot about it.....you'd think they'd need that timeslot!

cyclenall - Just found a video for the Office episode, not sure if you can view the entire episode but I also know my summary cannot do this show justice. You HAVE to see it!

And no I didn't watch Duel last night.....LOL
Uh, Brent - we watched the Eli Stone episode from Thursday night and we thought it was so good! A glimpse into the future! Lost-style but in a good way.......which will lead right into the last two episodes. Do you happen to know if Eli Stone will be given a second season?

It's on the bubble. Sunday and next Thursday's ratings are VERY critical to it's future. It needs to pick up a lot of new viewers from airing after DH(which should be at least an 18 million viewer lead-in). It's getting about 7-8 million now, not good enough. It consistently lost nearly half of the Lost lead-in(of course nothing ever does well after Lost, that's why it's moving to 10pm). I guess the bit of good news is since Lost has gone on hiatus, it has kept the audience, but the numbers really aren't good.
Now because of the strike there are fewer pilots available than in the past meaning a lot less new shows, so that will help it's chance a bit, but it needs to improve it's numbers or it won't matter. ABC has already renewed Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money from this season(in addition to all the moderate to big hits like DH, B&S, Grey's, Lost etc). The only ABC shows really still on the fence besides Eli are Boston Legal, Women's Murder Club, Men in Trees, and October Road. I think Trees and Road will be cancelled, Boston Legal, WMC, and Eli could go either way.

LOL, yes, I've heard that before.

NBC Tests Family Hour Boundaries
By EDWARD WYATT
LOS ANGELES — It was almost as if the NBC comedy writers had decided to test the limits of prime time taste just as the network unveiled a family-friendly philosophy of scheduling.
Thursday’s episodes of “30 Rock” and “The Office,” the first new installments to be broadcast since the end of the writers’ strike, each included coy references to a vulgarity: in one case it was bleeped out; in the other it was winked at in an acronym. While not unprecedented, the occurrences in the back-to-back prime-time shows were jarring. They also raise questions about the placement of “30 Rock” as an anchor of what an NBC executive, Ben Silverman, has designated the “family hour.”
In the case of “30 Rock,” the reference came in the form of an acronym — part of the title of a make-believe “Survivor”-like show — referring to a teenager’s crude designation of someone’s sexy mother. In “The Office,” besides the bleeping, the character’s lips were even pixilated to prevent lip reading. But it was not difficult for many viewers instantly to realize what was said.

Re: What are you watching this spring?
DH and Eli Stone were both awesome, I had not really watched Eli since the pilot but I was impressed.
DH had so many funny moments, Lynette in church, Gaby punishing Carlos, and Susan discovering Katherine(!)/Tim(that shocked me, LOL)
and some creepy stuff, like Katherine's ex.

I thought we used to have a separate DH topic but when I did a search this topic came up.....oh well.
DH was very good. Lynette seeking answers to her questions - loved it. This is why she remains my favorite wife. Although in many ways I can relate to Susan too. Gabby - I don't know about, I just hope she sincerely feels "for better, for worse" because well as we all must know, Carlos will not remain blind, this is a soap opera at it most cliche-ness, LOL, so he will be offered a new radical surgery, that could potentially restore his eyesight but could also kill him, and Gabby will realize he may not need her as much if he has the surgery.....have I watched soaps before - you betcha! Anywho, for now she seems loyal to him. But you have to wonder - how are they paying their bills? That's a big house! Loved the bit with canned beef stew......
I still cannot stand Katherine. While Bree seems cold at times, Katherine seems just downright sinister. Her daughter is in turmoil over her memories and how they conflict with what she's been told by many people. Why can't she see her daughter needs answers?
Ah but this is a TV show......
Brent - I agree, Eli Stone was great. We've really taken to this show and hope it returns next fall. Let me know if you hear it will be given another season, okay? Thanks! I predicted he may end up with Maggie in the end and my daughter said - no way! This was when she thought he'd get back with his ex-fiance. No, I said, they are not soulmates......yes I've watched a bit too much TV in my day and can see where a storyline will go.....LOL One of our favorite characters on this show is his assistant - Patty! She's a riot. Her comebacks remind me of Berta's on Two and a Half Men.

Re: What are you watching this spring?
Well, Eli's ratings last night were pretty bad. Bled a lot of the DH lead-in though it did do a lot better than previous weeks(that isn't saying much). 50% retention and a 2.9 demo... but it could have been worse I guess.
DH was down a bit from pre-strike numbers but hit 16 million viewers. It had a much weaker lead-in and lead-out also(EM: HE is back in 2 weeks and B&S is back next week).
I can't figure out why NBC has completely given up the night.

So the three biggest shows all get 2-hour finales(DH gets one too on the 18th). YAY.
On the subject, here's a promo for the return of ABC's Thursday lineup(also Ugly Betty) which has had a ton of views in just 24 hours.

Secretly, I'm kinda glad Lost wraps up the 29th. LOL My daughter graduates from HS the 25th and days leading up to that ceremony (party for oh at least 50, awards night, senior breakfast, etc.) will be so incredibly busy (been thru it before with her sister)......so by the 29th, I can focus on Lost!
