TV Guide's Watercooler Lost critique:

http://www.tvguide.com/TV/Watercooler/

Lost
I'd like to thank Sabrina — who did such a lovely job writing about this show while I've been out on maternity leave — for pointing out the fact that the title of tonight's episode was "Maternity Leave." Weird coincidence. And while I promise not to have too much baby talk going on, can I just say that Claire is a lucky, lucky gal that sweet pea Aaron is always sleeping through the night at less than a month old? Must have something to do with that island air, or the weird drugs that the Others had been injecting into her pregnant belly. Thank goodness that Libby was around with her clinical psychology background to help Claire delve into the missing days. But where did all those others go? How big is this island? I mean Rousseau avoids our fuselagies (that word is courtesy of Matthew Fox on The Daily Show) most of the time, and the others kidnapped Claire and kept her hidden for a while, but yet their secret lair is less than a days walk away from the beach? I want a map. And is the "new" Dharma symbol the staff of Asclepius, aka those intertwined snakes, that are on most medical practices? And what was up with that little disguise kit that Kate discovered? Is someone impersonating the shaggy Mr. DeGroot? Also, did any one else sort of have a moment of panic that Mr. Eko was going to off himself after his confession to Henry? I knew in my sane mind that it wouldn't happen, but there was a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when he took out that massive knife and held it to his throat. And I still don't trust Henry Gale and his whole Wizard of Oz inspired cover story. I think he's a cylon... I mean, an "Other." (Too much Battlestar for me during my break.) His eagerness to drive a wedge between Jack and Locke just further proves to me that he's up to no good. — Angel Cohn

OK, maybe someone with the season 1 on tape/DVD can clear this up for me.....I was thinking that when Danielle had Sayid captive back in season 1 that when she talked about "Alex" that she said it was her son. Now, all of a sudden "Alex" is her daughter? What's going on there??? What would be her motive for switching the sex of her child? Is she that mental or is she playing our beloved Lost characters?

Also, I SOOO thought Eko was going to off himself - I gasped! LOL Come on now, I know I wasn't the only one...

Last night's episode went by so fast. The credits started, and I was like, that's it? it's over? While it did answer some things about what happened to Claire while she was gone, it started so many other questions too...ah, that's why we love this show :)

lol - Mary and I discussed this a few weeks ago! Danielle did not confirm that Alex was her "son". However, when she ventured into the camp the first time in season one, she said "her daughter"!

I'll admit, I didn't know what Eko was going to do with that knife. It was clear he was trying to frighten the man. I knew it was a scare tactic but I just didn't know he was going to cut off part of his facial hair. Speaking of which, I hadn't even paid attention that he had a small goatee going there! LOL The man still gives me the creeps.

Religious themes are present in Lost. This week Eko confesses to the prisoner. I half expected the balloonist guy to say he was a Minister or something. Another man of the cloth recognizing another.

Man I love this show! I loved Claire speaking up for herself and how she wouldn't stop until Kate or someone listened to her. That what she remembered really happened. Remember, Jack thought it was all a bad dream, until she was taken. It's a good thing Claire entrusted Kate's help. If she had told Jack what she wanted to do, he might have sedated her again.

Tstormwatcher: Here's the ABC page for Lost. There might be info here on the episode you missed. I doubt that they'll show it again so quickly. You might have to wait a few months.

http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index.html

If you own a Mac or iPod, then go to iTunes or purchase it. You'll see links for downloads of TV Shows, all of the Lost episodes are there. $1.99 each. That's another way you can see it, now. But you'd have to establish an account.

Here's a summary of the episode also:
http://www.tv.com/lost/maternity-leave/ ... mmary.html
(I see a link to purchase the episode via iTunes on this page).

Good luck! If none of this works or is too much to bother with, we can give you a good summary. Let us know. Between all of us, I'm sure we'd cover the entire episode!

You don't have to own a Mac or iPod to download it from iTunes. Because of Rita, I missed the first several episodes, and ended up downloading the first 10 episodes from iTunes to catch up. I have a Dell and use Windows XP Home. For only $1.99, it might be worth it to you. The quality is better than I expected as well.

Kelly - thanks! Being the non-computer savvy person that I am, reluctantly, this is what my 15 yr old daughter told me to type. LOL

But I knew it was cheap - $1.99. That's better than any summary we could provide!

I bet Tstormwatcher is watching it right now if not already.

Didn't even think of that, I am supposed to be able to hook my laptop up to my big screen. I may just have to try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

OH my gosh!!! I just got to watch the last two episodes of LOST and you guys have missed a serious piece of the puzzle!!!!!! You know when Kate found the beard and stuff, right? She also found what is known as a theatrical glue. That is used to put on "crepe hair" in theatre. When Eko cut the stuff and he zoomed in on it... it was the crepe hair like what was found in the box. He must be an OTHER!!!!!!! That would also explain his apology. If Henry had been an Other... he would have admitted it to Eko after he showed him the crepe hair.

Also, I too think that Jack is in on this with "The Others". I don't know why I but I do feel that way. More later...

Well, Garrett - what in the world would we do without you? I remember her finding the glue and of course Eko cutting off the hair.

I'd love to say I told you so......he he. So I will - I told you all, so. I just did not trust Eko, from the start.

Boy if he is an Other, Ana Lucia is going to be livid - livid! She prides herself on knowing when to spot an Other.

Thanks Garrett!

Mary

PS - Jack better not be in on it. He's a good guy! Thru and thru. Come on sunny, help me out here!

If Eko is an other, then why did they try to grab him while on the beach?

I'm here Mary!!!!!!

Okay, Eko I might can buy. Although I'm confused by his "flashback". That's what I've been trying to think of - who haven't they done a flashback on! I do wonder a little about Michael, though. I don't know why, nothing I can put my finger on. But I do wonder....

Listen closely. JACK IS NOT AN OTHER!!! I WON'T ALLOW IT!!! lol - no, seriously, I don't think Jack is an other. His story is too solid to me.

I second that - Jack is not an OTHER! You all watch what you say - Cindy and I will come knocking on your door and shake some sense into you all......LOL Just kidding. If they ~ever~ considered making Jack evil, I swear I think I might just stop watching!

He is the Bobby Ewing of Dallas to Lost's assorted Lost survivors (for this fan anyway). Bobby! Jack! Got that?!!!! he he

Okay, back to TV fiction discussions.

I think if Eko is an Other, they made it look like he was on Flight 815, so Ana Lucia, Bernard, et all would trust him.

See here's the thing - I usually trust my first impressions of people. In real life mostly. And on TV shows. With Sawyer I thought he was a selfish baby kinda guy - trying to appear tough, stranded on a desert island, I'll survive, what's the big deal everyone? But not evil. Kate too. You knew she had a shady past, but something about her seemed like she wanted to be good. And well, Jack is just GOOD, period. LOL

My first impression of Eko was to question who he really was/is. And I thought from the get-go he was not a passenger on Flight 815. Not saying he's in Ethan's camp either. But we were made to think he survived the tail section.

I'm looking for an old topic and stumbled upon this old Lost one. Different from another Lost topic.

We've got Jack's back, don't we Mary

The thing with Michael - first, Walt obviously has some sort of, I don't know the right word, sensitivity to the island. Maybe he got it from Michael? Second, Michael gave Walt a stuffed Polar Bear before Walt went to live in Australia. Third, and I'd have to go back to get the exact wording, but when they were at the airport and Michael was on the phone with his mom and said "it wasn't supposed to happen like this". Fourth, when Michael, Sawyer and Jen stumbled upon the others, Jen got hurt, Sawyer got shot, Michael - nothing.

I know Sawyer had the gun. My point was is that Michael seemed to come out of it pretty good.
