A wonderful dog rescue story.....

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Tue Jun 17, 2008 8:17 pm

Before and after you read this article, I would please ask S2K members not to turn this into a debate about pit bulls. But rather, a positive outcome from a horrific situation. And since I'm a cancer survivor AND an animal lover, well, I just want to look into this sweet dog's eyes and hug him! Hopefully you will too after you read it. Figuratively, that is.....I know if I lived closeby I would just have to visit this dog!

This is such a wonderful story!!

I've told you about my sister's pit bull Mary - Mia. Mia is such a sweet heart. If you raise a dog with love they will respond!

Cindy - it is true, dogs are very forgiving and naturally, giving creatures. Treat them right and they are indeed man's best friend. We will accidentally step on our dog's paw or something extremely minor and the attention she gives us is double what we give her (saying we're sorry, rubbing her paw, etc.). Right now I have to give her 2 antibiotic pills a day and spray antibiotic spray on an area she rubbed raw, into a hot spot (had to have her fur shaved and cleaned, etc.). She's not happy when I'm spraying her but when I'm done, I'm her best friend. It's so odd. She's lippy while you're doing things like this, then when you're done, she's whimpering as if to say I'm sorry I'm a little difficult with medications.......anyway, dogs are just such special animals.

I was always a cat lover, until 8 years ago. Got a Golden and well the rest is history as they say.....so I joke I'm a 51% dog person, 49% cat....which my family howls at because they are much more dog people than cat people. But I love both......dogs just seek you out. While cats are aloof (but that's what I like, I find that a challenge, to win them over...).

I'm rambling......dogs/cats, no matter - what would the world be like without of our beloved pets and animal stories? We'd be missing out on the important things in life.......that's what!

My huge lab plays with my small kitty and it's so much fun to watch. They actually wrestle and my dog is so gentle with her, it's adorable. I also often find them cuddled up together, taking a nap.

Mary, Mia is now 3. She lived with a cat who lived to be 20! Mena was Mia's best friend and my sister had to put Mena down a few weeks ago. Mia is still looking for her friend. My sister said Mia will look in Mena's bed and look back at her as if she is saying "well, where is she?" She never tried to harm that cat at all!

Mia gets so excited when company comes over, she thinks everyone is coming to visit her!
