I am overwhelmed right now,could use a few prayers! UPDATE!

#1 Postby GulfBreezer » Tue Aug 12, 2003 8:35 am

I am normally one to be the "calm in the storm" but today I am almost completely overwhelmed;
We are leaving Friday to take my son to college, major preparations going on.
I got a phone call last week concerning a job offer in my field of study, yes this is good news and I feel confident that the job is mine if I want it. However, it is on such a "fast track" (they have to have someone by Sept 1st) that I will left making a very fast decision if I am offered the job b/c of the notice I would have to give. I love my current job, but no room for growth and this new job would incorporate my goal of my CPA status. It really would be a win-win situation but here is the kicker...............
I have a doctors appointment today at 3:30 to biopsy another growth that has all the signs of cancer, I have survived severe dysplasia (pre-cancer) 2 years ago and now the tumor that I have is directly related to the cause of the dysplasia. So, with all of this said, I have so many balls in the air that have to land before I can even begin to make decisions about the job. As you can see, things are just nuts and on top of all that I am a full time student and in the middle of classes. This is really just a request for some prayers of sanity and acceptance of God's will, whatever it may be. Let me handle these issues with the least amount of resistance. I appreciate you all and I just want to get through this with my faith and courage intact. Thanks!
Sandi :D

Sandi - My thoughts and prayers are with you. I do hope this growth is nothing serious, and that you are able to deal with everything that is going on.

I've never had that many balls up in the air, but I think that your health should come first - physically AND emotionally. If you are feeling overwhelmed right now, just imagine how you will feel starting the new job, school, any medical treatments etc. You may want to take advantage of this new job, but when you feel overwhelmed, you probably won't be performing as well as you know you can, and that's going to add to your stress.

I was in the middle of getting my MBA when I got my job at the casino as the Financial Reporting Manager. It was my first management position and I've never worked at a casino before so there was alot of new procedures and lingo to learn. That was stressful in itself for me. Sometimes having the "familiar and comfortable" is really beneficial when you have so many other things going on that are not in your control.

I think you need time to think things through IMHO. :wink:

Thanks Stephanie and Josh
Stephanie, thanks for the input and that is basically the dillemma because all of my decisions are based on the biopsy results. This particular type of cancer I am being tested for, the only treatments are surgery and/or chemo and radiation. Insurance wise, my decision will be made to stay put. But I am trying to just take one minute at a time right now. Thanks again.

Sandi, I wish you the best of luck. What ever you decide to do will be the best, even if it is at least for now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

One minute, one day at a time is the best way. At least you have a job right now.

I'm generally pretty competitive myself - I always want to learn the new procedures, be the one to take the next step up, BUT, I've learned that now that I am no longer in management that I am MUCH HAPPIER and alot less stressed. I am following what I need emotionally and psychologically and I've decided that I don't need the stress of being in management. :wink:

Sandi - oh my, I don't know where to start. You do have a lot going on right now. And first and foremost, is your health. Until you know for certain it's cancer, I hate to use that word, remain positive and pray it's not. I'm a cancer survivor (colon, and had dysplasia in 85 too) myself so I can relate to how you're feeling. Let's not get ahead of ourselves until you know for certain it's malignant. If it is, we'll all be here for you - praying non-stop. I've also been a full-time student too, while raising kids. That is an entirely different kind of stress, when you're older, married, running a household, raising kids, etc. So I can relate there too! You need a shoulder to lean on or a few - so we'll do that for you. Please let us know how the biopsy results turn out.

I hope it comes back negative Sandi.

Sandi,

He already knows what problems you are having to deal with..."In Him, all things are known and nothing is hidden", yet you have done well to ask us to pray with you about these matters.

My prayer list is never so long that I can't add another's entreaty, so rest assured...YOU'RE COVERED! :D

Sandi my dear friend and sister....rest assured you will be lifted up before the Father. Always know this......our Father never gives us more than we can handle at one time, I'm positive this is a test of faith and "when" you pass this test, he will move you on to bigger and better things! {{HUGS}}

Sandi, you definitely have a full plate. Right now I'm praying that your Dr's visit goes well. ((Hugs))

So many stressors at one time. Remember those footprints in the sand. God will always carry us if the load gets too heavy.
Take care my friend

Sandi,

It sounds like you have alot on your plate right now. What I would do is keep all of your food in order and do not mix it up. It will be alot easiar to digest that way.

My prayers are on the way.

That is such a beautiful poem! I remember when I first suffered from depression, a friend of mine gave me alittle plaque with that on it and I wanted to cry. It really does give you hope!

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the tests come back negative Sandi!

Ok you guys, you have successfully made me cry with all the well wishes and thoughts and prayers. The Doctor decided against the biopsy today because of the location. It will have to be done in the hospital under anesthesia. Because of this, she wants to try another approach for 4 weeks to see if the size can be decreased. She said that this was a risk but an acceptable one in her opinion because of the side affects of this particular type of biopsy. One of the side effects is daily pain for the rest of my life. Not something I want! If this approach works then it is NOT cancer, but if after 4 weeks, the size has not decreased, then I am going in for the biopsy. While the waiting will be hard I will concentrate on listening to God before every decision I will be facing. This certainly puts a new spin on the job situation :D
I cant even begin to express the gratitude I feel for each and every one of you!! You are truly God's gifts!!
Much love to you all and many (((((((((hugs)))))))))
I will keep you updated!
