I was in Orlando last Thursday-Friday as a presenter at a conference for the Florida Association of Teacher Educators. Since Vero Beach is "on the way" back (south) to Boynton Beach, Kurt and I stopped to see my 6-months-pregnant daughter and son-in-law on Saturday. After a late lunch, Sarah stretched back on the couch as we all talked and watched TV. After a few moments, she took my hand and put it on her abdomen. Whoa -- my little grandson-to-be was practicing gymnastics! I could even see her middle bounce around from his activity when my hand wasn't on it. I leaned very close to her tummy and told this dear little one how wonderful he is, how much we all love him, and how we so excited about his coming into this world.
I've never had this privilege before. It was an amazing -- yes, even spiritual -- experience. The phrase "miracle of life" isn't just a cliche -- it's truly awesome in the original sense of that word!
