Ya know....

Ya know, it's a tad bit early for Christmas stuff in the stores but I understand with the economy etc BUT....the towns on the mountain, Show Low, Pinetop, Lakeside have started putting up their decorations on the lamp posts, even my NEIGHBORS (not next door mind you, they are distant relatives to Scrooge!) have started putting up decorations. I mean, stores...but street decorations, PUUUUULEASE! I know we are a "tourist destination" and they are only trying to put visitors in the "Mountain Christmas spirit" but dang it, when Christmas does roll around, I'm SICK of it!

OTOH, if the forecast low temperatures for tomorrow are any clue, it might FEEL like Christmas tomorrow morning.

There seems to be a whole lot of reasons not to celebrate and feel good this Christmas, and although it seems to get earlier every year (before Halloween in some Phoenix locations), there's always a chance that a sprinkle of holiday dust might fall on our shoulders and leave us a smile and some hope.

It's unlikely you'll see the kinds of snows you saw last winter. Two in a row are probably not that common, but the combination of chill in the air and a dusting of white stuff might make that pot belly stove feel pretty good after a hard day's work fightin' crime!

I agree it's over the top commercially, but a lot of small businesses are hoping that the gloom and doom that's hung over us for too long now will be replaced by the sounds of a cash register now and then.

Before long those decorations will be coming down and we'll be into 2009! That's when we'll all be hoping for more things to feel good about!

Better get out that Santa suit!!
