Ski Dubai

#1 Postby tropicana » Fri Nov 14, 2008 9:05 am

I just happened to be watching the CBS Early Morning show today and one of the reporters was in Dubai, UAE, one of the richest nations in all the world...
and she took us skiing! Yeah, in the Arabian desert! Well, snow-scooting, it looked like such fun. I wanted to be there right then and there. Haaa, Ski Dubai is claimed to be one of the largest indoor ski resorts in the world, with 22,500-square metres of indoor ski area. It is a part of the Mall of the Emirates, which is one of the largest shopping malls in the world.
An extremely efficient insulation system is the key to maintain the temperature of -1 degrees Celsius 30F during the day and -6 degrees 22F during the night when the snow is produced.

Ski Dubai is part of the Majid Al Futtaim Group of Companies, a leader for shopping malls in the region. Ski Dubai has 5 runs of varying difficulties, the longest being 400m.

It is so cool to think that outside in November can be 95F or hotter and you can be inside skiing and in winter clothes.
Today in Dubai, it reached 87F.

Has anyone ever been to Dubai? and if so, what were your experiences.

Dubai, UAE must be one of the coolest cities in the world. I'd love to go there someday, it's amazing how fast they are transforming it.

My brother lived in Dubai, i guess it was back in the 80's. If he had gotten one more speeding ticket he would have been deported.
