He's just a speech writer - probably an English major. He's lucky he has a job.

He has a job all right, "director of speechwriting for the White House". This is no small potato job. As an American, I'm ashamed someone like this will be working in the White House. But hey, I'm not surprised, either. Seems in the last 15 years, the prestige and honor the White House used to enjoy in the public's perception is gone, and all that remains is a wealth of material for jokewriters. It all started downhill with the "blue dress/bj" jokes...
