The Best Spring Break Ever

#1 Postby Dee Bee » Wed Mar 11, 2009 9:01 pm

I'm having one of the best spring breaks of my life as Grammie-Nanny in Vero Beach this week.  My daughter has exhausted her family leave (according to her company, her leave began when she was ordered on bed rest six weeks before her delivery) and her husband teaches. So this week, baby Dylan, Tally (their three-year-old Wheaten Terrier), and I play all day.  Grampie Kurt joined us Tuesday evening for the rest of the week. Luckily, Dylan's a breastfed boy who's taken very well to breastmilk in a bottle (unlike his mommy, whom I breastfed until she was nearly a year old).

BTW, Dylan measured two ounces shy of 15 pounds and a touch over 25 inches at his 8-week check-up last Monday -- that's the size of an average 5 month old.  He could hold his head up from a tummy-down position when he was 3 weeks old and has incredibly strong leg muscles. He loves standing up on my thighs or tummy while grabbing onto my my hands. He's already checking out scooting during tummy time in his little play gym by pushing against my hands with his feet. Once he figures out how to push forward with his elbows, he'll be off like a shot!

He's also at that delightful stage of smiling, babbling, cooing, chuckling, and shrieking with joy. Here's a picture of him smiling in his sleep:

I never imagined how wonderful being a grammie would be! :D

Cute picture there.

My oldest boy could raise his head lying on his tummy the day he was born.

My second son learned to crawl the same day he learned to roll from his back to this tummy.

Babies are so cool.

DeeBee, he is cute enough to be my Granddaughters future husband!!hehe(actually, according to her Grammie she already has two suitors-her mothers Matron of honor's son and another little boy born to a couple at our church a week before she was). Being a grand parent is indeed fun!!! In fact we(mostly Grammie since I was recovering from a kidney stone and drugged) babysat Emily yesterday evening so Mom and Dad could have a dinner date. Enjoy the rest of your spring break!!!

Yes indeed, what a wonderful spring break you're having.

I have not had the joy of being a Grammie, nothing happening in that dept., but I hear it's just wonderful. I can wait but hopefully not decades....LOL
