Soda or pop??

#1 Postby LilGrimmy » Fri Mar 12, 2010 5:04 pm

Just a curious question,
Do you call it soda or pop? It's a constant battle with me calling it soda and my northern cousins calling pop.
I thought it might be interesting to see everyone else's preferences!
Have a great day!!

I always have called it soda because well that's what it's called in the south. Sometimes I will here 'pop' come from my mom. She was born in the north but the south has gotten to her! LOL
But my cousins in Buffalo call it pop... It kind of annoys me in a sense but I have no clue why.

Coke! It's all coke. :P Now what kind of coke would you like? Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke w/lime for me, please.

Nobody says pop around here, and soda is rarely heard as well. When I hear the word pop, I think of old movies.

Edit: After reading GC's post above, yeah... people do say soft drinks as well, but mostly just coke.

Me too! I'm from the south (south LA) and never in 52 years have I used the words "soda' or "pop". Gimme a Coke!
