Wx Geeks take over Twitter

I was noticing the trending topic on Twitter earlier today and noticed CLR RMK AO2 were listed. Searching those terms brought up a lot of questions from other Tweeters: What is AO2? Is it a video game? Who is RMK?

No. It's just METAR (weather observations) making an impact...

CLR is the code for clear skies; RMK stands for remarks; AO2 indicates that the observation is from an automated sensor.

It just cracks me up to see METARs trending on a social networking site...

Hopefully we'll chase the ones who post random bs like "I just picked my nose" away and it can be taken over by reliable weather nuts 8-)
