XML Weather

So I'm trying to figure out a way to pull METAR data from NOAA in XML format and compare it to TAFs to validate the accuracy of the forecast. Also, I'll like to utilize the same METAR data for decoding purposes. Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about XML. Is anyone familiar enough to get me pointed in the right direction? Thanks!

Would this help? W3Schools is pretty good at teaching that sort of stuff.
