Labor Day Weekend Plans

#1 Postby azsnowman » Mon Aug 25, 2003 2:35 pm

First off......can you BELEIVE it's Labor Day Weekend coming up :o My heavens, where the heck did summer go????

Anyways, what's your Labor Day Weekend Plans? Us.....not a whole heck of a lot......with this being the last unoffical weekend of summer, this quite little mountain top "ROCKS!" :o If I remember correctly, last Labor Day, over 160,000 visitors came to the mountain :o :o :o Needless to say, we do ALL of shopping (beer, wine, smokes, groceries) on Thursday and LET 'EM HAVE the whole town to themselves  With my sis in law coming tomorrow, we are taking a trip to VLA'S on Thursday and then THAT'S IT......I'm sitting on the front porch and watch the leaves change color :P

You know what? I lied "uummm...shame, shame Dennis!"

This weekend, actually starting Weds., is the 102nd Annual, White Mountain Apache Fair and Rodeo......the largest all Native American Rodeo in the WEST :o GREAT, GREAT rodeo .......I've never missed in the 38 yrs I've lived on the mountain (well, with exception of my stint in the Navy). Almost every Native American Tribe is represented there, you name it, they're there! Funny.......indians being cowboys......when we were kids, didn't we play cowboys and indians???? :?: "LOL!"

It will be just like any other weekend, without living near family (besides my brother and sister-in-law 2 1/4 hours away and cousins about 3 1/2 hours away), my parents and I really have no place to go.

As far as I know, our neighbors aren't doing anything in particular, either.

Nothing special planned here....maybe grill out; and I may take in the Labor Day parade on Monday morning; and of course college football gets into action this weekend - which will have my undivided attention :D

Looks like we'll be sand bagging and setting up the sump pump "LOL!" The outlook for the weekend gets soggier and soggier with each AFD from NWS Flagstaff!

Wooo-Hooo!!! Breeze is off after tomorrow evening until
Tuesday! Five glorious days! Gotta help friends in
nearby Hohenwald move on Friday, then, I guess I need
to "nudge" my brother, next-door, to cook out on Monday.
As much as he likes to grill, that probably won't be too
much of a problem! :D

Evil twin? Dennis, you crack me up! :) I am leaving shortly for my classes today and then I am heading to near Rolla, MO for a bluegrass festival. I won't be back until sometime on Monday.

Everyone enjoy the weekend! :D

Breeze - have a wonderful vacation!

Dennis - Just make sure that you take it easy with your pnemonia, but it sounds like you'll have a great weekend just the same!

Bill - I hope that there will be good news on the housing front coming to you soon!

Me? Tonight I'm going to a surprise 40th birthday BBQ out on Brigantine (on the New Jersey coast). I'm staying over night at the new casino that opened in July called "The Borgata" and then doing alittle gambling tomorrow and heading home. Marty has a motorcycle ride tomorrow with his club, and then the rest of the weekend will be QUIET. Can't wait! :D

This is on tap for Sunday at the Greenville Pickens Speedway. It's called the Upper South Carolina State Fair, and every year they have somebody decent playing. In past years I've seen Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, Tracy Lawrence..and others.

$10 to get in the gate and includes the concert. They have the standard rides and games, and helicopter rides, and pet the pigs and monkeys...etc..it's more fun than a Yankee can stand!
