Has anyone seen this yet?

#1 Postby Infdidoll » Tue Jul 05, 2011 7:45 am

Forgive me, I'm not over here much to chat. Usually all wrapped up in the active storms in the West Pac!

I was browsing Amazon for a new Kindle book because I was bored...and saw their top-selling free Kindle ebook was a book called 'Eyewall' by H.W. "Buzz" Bernard. Being the weather nerd I am and hearing it was written by a meteorologist and was about a hurricane...and the fact that it was - hello - FREE, I had to get it. Anyway, I'm halfway through and it's a pretty good read, so far. I couldn't help but wonder if this meteorologist happened to be a member here? If you haven't heard about it yet, thought I'd pass the word along. It's not too often I see a meteorological thriller out there!

If you know of anything else in the meteorological thriller genre, let me know. I had no idea the subject could be so fascinating in novel form! :)

Well Ive always liked the book Dark Rising Water by Marian Hale. Its about the 1900 galveston hurricane. If you want facts, I love the Hurricane Almenac by Bryan Norcross.

Shoot, in my opinion, the best book about the 1900 Storm was/is Isaac's Storm by Erik Larson. Amazing book in part referenced by the meteorologist in charge (Isaac Cline) at the Galveston National Weather Service ( US Weather Bureau at that time) station, this book just had me transfixed from the first page to the last.

If you haven't read this one, it is a must read imo. As tman said, transfixed from start to finish.
