STS-135: Atlantis touches down; Shuttle program over

#1 Postby Chacor » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:16 pm

STS-135, to be flown by SS Atlantis, will be the last scheduled space shuttle mission under NASA's charge. Final countdown is on, Atlantis has been rolled out and is in position, and we are now just around 70 hours from one final shuttle launch.

IMO this is the beginning of the era that will lead to Russia or China landing on Mars.

No suprised....America is bankrupt we can't afford the final frontier any more. Good luck to the Chinese or Russians in their quest to master space.....MGC

BS. NASAs annual funding is about 4 days worth of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Guys, I worked at NASA as a librarian for two years ( I actually joined S2K while I was still there). They were phasing out the Shuttle program anyway. That is why they set up Constellation. This was a done deal during the Bush program. Just like when we phased out the Apollo program ( although the rockets we will be using next look a LOT like the Saturn V's) to go to the Shuttle program, this happens.
