Global stock markets crash as global economy teeters

#1 Postby JTD » Mon Aug 08, 2011 12:25 pm

Dow is down 310 points or so after plunging 512 points just Thursday and 10% in the past 2 weeks. I think today's drop could mean the Dow will be down 15-20% in just 2 weeks.

Europe plunged through the floor.

Here is an article from CNN:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- European stocks closed sharply lower Monday, as action to bolster faltering eurozone nations couldn't overcome concerns about Standard & Poor's downgrade of U.S. debt. Asian markets also finished the session lower.

U.S. stock futures tracked the steep declines in global markets, slipping about 3% in mid-day trading.

President Obama is scheduled to make a staement on this crisis at 1:30 P.M. ET.

Are you guys pulling out of the stock market? I'm not sure what to do. I'm a long-term investor but I am very bearish on the long-term right now.

Emerging markets such as China and India are even slowing down.

Dow closed down -634 points today. That is insane! Worst drop since 2008.

The Futures for DOW were down almost -300 points earlier in the night, right now they are floating at about 0. I think, if the recent pattern holds, today will be a roughly +60 day.
