The trees they are a changin'

A few pics I took with my camera phone. The trees are starting to change but a few have already completely changed.





The first one is kinda cool because just over half of the tree is bright red but the right half is still pretty green.

Was admiring the change of colours here this week but nothing beats that shade of red.

Tireman I hope yours are just in dormancy/survival mode and that you are still watering them (I've seen trees here, in my neighbourhood, lose their leaves for a whole summer but none of them died). Ones though that were in a school yard two blocks away died (they just took them down this year)...they however aren't watered.

Tireman - ditto Saskatchewan, but I honestly can't see what really could've survived that drought. Mother Nature will renew though. You see it in the cities where old buildings are razed, after forest fires, etc.

Yeah, the City of Houston is taking down so many trees this year. It has been a rough one. Oh and get this. This will be the third hottest September on record. Wow. Just wow.

HOUSTON -- A prolonged drought across Texas is taking a toll on Houston parks as the city prepares to consider spending $4.5 million for tree removal.

Fifteen-thousand dead trees have to be removed from local parks and some believe they will never be replaced.

"It's incredibly sad. Every fourth and fifth tree is dead," said Sue Luehr.

Yeah, ours are done. We lost our only one in July this year. Had to take it down. Our shrubs are suffering too. We do water them, but I think we may lose two of the five in the garden.

Like Tireman said our trees have already changed. They are all brown. I've lost several shrubs, but none of my trees yet. We may have one going that was damaged during Hurricane Ike that is looking a little bleak. Unfortunately to water my trees properly would break the bank, so they get mother natures pittance and whatever falls under them when I am watering the yard on our designated days. Most of mine are hearty oaks so I have been lucky so far.
One of these days I am heading to the NE for the change just so I can see a really good one.
That whatever kind of maple(that is what it looks like to me)is beautiful!!
