We need your help Please

#1 Postby chadtm80 » Wed Sep 10, 2003 8:02 pm

Hello Everyone.. Hows everything going? Good I hope.. The Admin team really needs your help and cooperation for the next month or so... We are becoming Victims of our own monster, Storm2k :D All of our hopes and dreams for this site have not only come true, but we have gone way above anything any of us even imagined.. We have not yet made it to our one year and we are almost up to 1,000 members... The word is out.. Storm2k is one of the MOST preferred Weather sites on the net at the present time.. :D :D :D Im not tooting our own horn here Ladies and Gentleman, I am stating a fact.. And what a fact it is :D :D :D Out of all the years mfdolphin, Ticka, and I have been part of the weather boards scene have we ever seen anything like this.. We are now averaging 299,000 hits per day... :shocked!: and there are people on the site 24/7.. We have members from all over the country as well as all over the world... Things couldn't be going any better for us :D

Now, with all that said.. We need your help and cooperation for at least the remainder of the Hurricane Season (our busiest time of the year, hands down) We have been flirting ever so closely to exceeding our bandwith limit for the last couple of months now, and with the latest member boom we have had, we are just about to go over our limit this month.. If we were to continue on the same average we have been doing so far this month it would put us over on about the 16th.. Check your calendars folks, thats just 6 days away.... and we have to make it till the 30th before our account will recycle. The Admin team has been meeting on this issue for a few days now, and trying to come up with a solution, that works out for the site, and at the same time, keeps all of you happy here at storm2k :D We do have a template that is called "subrebel" that is very bandwidth friendly.. It does not show Avatars or signature lines, which GREATLY reduces the bandwith usage. Our fist thought was to just force everyone to use this template from behind the scenes, but we just realy do not want to do that.. We want everyone to be happy, and fell some what in control here.. So what we decided to do, is Kindly ask for people to take a break from using there Avatars and Graphic signatures for a while... You can just go into your profile and remove them... This would help us out SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH, and would be GREATLY appreciated.. We would also like to encourage anyone that dosent mind using the "Low" graphic template to please switch over to the "subrebel" template... Just go to your profile, and change the "board style" to subrebel, and then scroll to the bottom of the page and click submit.. Another thing that is realy eating away at our bandwith is all the pictures that our posted in the posts themselves with the image tags.... (I am the number 1 person when it comes to doing that one  ) Again it would be greatly appreciated if you would just post the link for us to click on to go see the picture rather then making the image viewable here within your posts..

The Admin team dosent ask much, and we do our best to make sure everyone has a fun, and educational time here.. And that is the very reason we our making these requests today... Please help us out, and make these changes ASAP, so we can continue to be the BEST WEATHER SITE ON THE NET!!!!! If any further actions are needed in this matter we will let you know right away...

Thanks For your cooperation in this matter.

Oh, and BTW: Chad, I am not sure where I got my froggy avatar, but I deleted it too, and if memory serves me right, you are the one who found it for me, so when it is safe to put it back on, will ya help me find it if I can't? I would really appreciate it!

Chad - well since I could never figure out how to use an avatar, it's no problem!!! If I'm not using one, then I'm okay right? I'll help in any way, you know that. I am really amazed at Storm2K's explosion too......what a great concept you all had and I'm sure it's exceeded your wildest imaginations!!! Premature congrats if we reach 1,000 members.

I changed and I kinda like this template, I don't mind not seeing any avatars. The only thing I see missing is the quick reply option>

Template change is no problem at all....and goofy avatar is now gone.

I kind of like it this way....for one thing..it draws far less attention to my screen, and as others who log on at work will attest, you don't want to draw attention.

The change is good, its really the content I am here for anyway, not the look. I agree with Hunter, is there anyway to get the quick reply on this skin, or is that a bandwith issue also?

We will try and get the "Quick Reply" feature installed tonight :-) It's just one of those things that was on the list to do but we haven't gotten to it yet :-)
