Thanks so very much for the kind words and prayers. The news isn't good, but uncle Larry does seem to be a little better this evening...
His problem is twofold....his heart is badly damaged, only beating efficently enough to barely keep him alive. Uncle Larry is also suffering from gallstones and an infected gall bladder; and all doctors agree there's no way he would ever survive surgery to remove the gall bladder.
Doctors don't give us much hope...they've done all they can. They are trying antibodics to reverse the infection in his gall bladder, but the cardiologist told me this evening he doubts my uncle will survive to leave the hospital...his heart is too weak to live long; and if the gallstones block the bile ducts, the infection and resulting gangrene will end his life
I believe in miracles, and uncle Larry has cheated death before....surviving two serious heart attacks, triple bypass surgery in 1996, a ruptured aorta; and being blown off an asphalt tanker truck during an explosion (before I was born)
As for me, emotionally I'm actually doing much better than a few days ago. I love my great uncle very much (he's the grandfather I never had); but unlike Susie's situation (only a few years older than me and her cancer spread so rapidly), I've known for several years uncle Larry was living on borrowed time (was diagnosed terminally ill in 2000), and have come to terms with it.
Again, thanks for your kindness, support, and prayers
God bless you,
Perry
