WOULD YOU BUY A USED CAR FROM THIS WOMAN?

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Thu Oct 09, 2003 7:31 am

Mayor Gwendolyn Faison of Camden, N.J., has finally agreed to give up her chauffeured black Lincoln Town Car. Not because it's pretentious, but because it's stolen property. Camden police had recovered the car the same day it was stolen in nearby Pennsauken, but the police never notified the 70-year-old victim that they had found his car. Instead, Faison, 77, used it as her official vehicle. Even when the car's true ownership was revealed, Faison refused to give it back to the victim until weeks of bad publicity forced her hand. Camden County Prosecutor Vincent P. Sarubbi cleared the mayor of any wrongdoing and ordered an audit to see if any more stolen cars were being used by city officials. So far, investigators have found that the city's police department is using two other stolen cars. (Philadelphia Inquirer) ...Now you can understand how the city has been able to stay within Faison's budget.
