Time For Good Thoughts and Prayer...

#1 Postby azskyman » Sun Oct 26, 2003 2:20 pm

As of noon in Phoenix, my son, his wife, and granddaughter Emma are prepared to evacuate their home in Scripps Ranch in NE San Diego. They have had time to secure the house and load their truck for immediate evacuation.

The fire is within a half mile of the house on the south. 5 miles on the east. and also from the north. Smoke was very dense an hour ago, but winds have slightly shifted in the last hour.

They can see flame from their home.

Perhaps the best news working in their favor. An earlier summer fire upstream from this one has cleared about 70 acres of brush around their neighborhood. Second....a new construction area just across the road from their subdivision, again upwind from the fire, has been cleared down to dirt for this construction. In other words...the fuel source for fire has been reduced dramatically in recent weeks.

Your prayers and thoughts for my family are appreciated. Just as important...all the others in the path of these fires and those near LA need some extra thoughts and prayers too.

I will provide updates as the day continues.

May God bless each of you for your care.

Steve (azskyman) and Kathy and family.

They have been forced to evacuate. They are now working their way north toward Carlsbad CA. It will be a slow go this afternoon as many roads are closed.

I am thankful for your prayers...and you need to know they are safe and moving away from the fire. Their home, however, is in serious jeopordy...especially during the rest of the afternoon.

That is terrible Steve. I am glad they are safe. Hopefully, they were able to gather some precious memories before they were forced to leave. I am praying that their home is spared.

Jason, Deb, and Emma are safe at the home of a friend. We have not heard the status of their home, yet thanks to the wonders of the internet I am able to get continuous news reports from San Diego news radio.

Witnesses just south of their subdivision reported that two shake-roof homes have burned in their immediate view. Jason, himself, could see two homes burning at the top of the next ridge before they evacuated.

So...for now...all we know is that there was very good reason why they were forced to leave. Some brush was burning just 200 yards from his subdivision as they were driving away.

None too soon.

STEVE!!! OMG!!!! Prayers are flowing from Houston for their continued safety and comfort for the entire family!!! It is such a horrible thing to not kno wwhat is going on when you have worked hard for what you have. And then if it is lost, although it is "just things" it is devastating. Keep us updated.

Steve, lots of thoughts and prayers to your family, and others in that area that are forced to leave their homes. This is such and awful thing to have to deal with. Thanks for keeping us informed!

OMG Steve......I feel for them, rest assured my dear friend, they will be in our prayers for as long as it's needed!

My sister in law lives in Julian, I'm sure you know where that's at....there's yet ANOTHER fire near her, she too, has been forced to evac. I know exactly how they feel, May God have mercy on them.

Thanks everyone...and yes, Dennis, Julian is just a few minutes NE of where Jason and Deb live. They were allowed to stop back home...and it is so far fine, but covered in ash.

They are deciding whether to stay or go tonight....based on the situation. May get a hotel room just to play it safe.

Can you believe so many fires? Seems like it could be terrorism to me....

My prayers are going out as I type this! Hopefully that construction area and previously burned area will protect their home and neighborhood.
