FORT WORTH, Texas - Her 48 days of skipping class and 11 full absences had finally caught up with the 15-year-old. Standing next to her mother, she faced a municipal court judge who grilled her about her truancy.
"I didn't want to go to class," the girl said. "I didn't want to do my work. It was ..." She stopped with the word "fun" dangling from her mouth.
It didn't get past the judge.
