Mass search for missing toddler ends
The search for missing toddler Daniel Thomas has been officially called off.
The two-year-old was initially thought to have gone missing from his babysitter's house in Myrtleford, north-east of Victoria, on October 17.
But homicide detectives have not discounted the possibility he could have been abducted up to two days earlier.
A police spokesman confirmed the large-scale search for Daniel had ended.
"It can be reactivated if we need too, but at this stage there are no nominated plans to do so," he said.
About 80 police and volunteers last week scoured the surrounding area, searching bushland, wells, dams and a rubbish tip.
Officers seized a car from the babysitter's house on Friday for forensic testing.
Daniel was last seen with arms and legs bandaged because of his eczema. He had difficulty walking more than 20 metres and also had asthma.
