"The Day After"

Has anyone seen this made-for-TV movie on cable lately or at all? I remember seeing it twice -- once when it was first broadcast and then again in school when we had to read "Alas, Babylon" and compare the two. I suppose I could get it off Ebay or something, but I prefer to reserve that for the Patty Duke collectibles I get. If I could just tape TDA, I'd be happy.

Yup, with Jason Robards and John Lithgow. I still remember Lithgow's character in the gymnasium that was being used as a fallout shelter. He was on a ham radio, calling out, "This is Lawrence, Kansas...is anyone out there...anyone at all? This is Lawrence, Kansas...." And I recall how they showed the blast in slo-mo....showing a house getting blown down, a handful of characters being irradiated...each one separately...turning to skeletons and then nothing...a field of horses. And I remember the hospital staff running outside and looking up towards the sky as our anti-nuke missiles were launched. But that last scene was also the main shot for all the print ads and stuff, so it's inevitable that stayed with me.

I was scared too. I remember when it first came out on TV, I had just moved into my new townhouse and invited some friends over to watch it. There were 9 people over, but no one said a word during the movie. It freaked us all out. I have only it seen a few times since then. If I remember right it was on USA not too long ago because I watched it with my kids.

I know Perry, it could be a reality.
