Civic/Community Theater Plays

#1 Postby Skywatch_NC » Sat Nov 15, 2003 12:04 pm

My folks and I went last night to our local civic/community theater called Lakeland Arts Center located in Littleton, NC about 25 minutes away from Roanoke Rapids (it's called Lakeland being it's near the Lake Gaston area). We saw "It's A Wonderful Life" and it featured my pastor as Mr. Potter and his oldest daughter as Mary Hatch Bailey...also his second oldest son as George Bailey's younger brother Harry! :D Some of my pastor's other daughters played some of the daughters of George and Mary and this one girl (daughter) of the Baileys looked almost like the one in the famous 1945 movie version! :) Cute curls and all! The one who says at the end..."Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!" :)

Wonderful art work talent on the sets and backdrop, etc! :D

My folks and I met our other church friends there...several from my folks' SS class were also in the audience as well as other church friends. :)

Have you seen a/some civic/community theater play/plays lately?

It's strange that you should ask today because we are going to see one tonight at the local college. I love going there and seeing the talented young people at their best! :D

Sikeston has a new theatre, but it is only used for dance team competitions or beauty pageants ("Little Miss Cornpone", "Miss Cotton Carnival", etc.).

Here, the arts are what one does when not farming...which is why coppertop wants to GET OUT ASAP, and seek his training and fortune in the NY/New England area.

Bill, interesting to hear that Coppertop is interested in the New York/New England. :) I wish him luck.
