Are computer terms offensive?

Master and slave on labels is unacceptable, officials say




LOS ANGELES, Nov. 25 Los Angeles officials have asked that manufacturers, suppliers and contractors stop using the terms ;master and slave on computer equipment, saying such terms are unacceptable and offensive.

Silly me...I read a headline about this, but it didn't mention the racial aspect of the offensiveness. I thought they meant it was derogatory in the other way, as in...you know...the masters and slaves who....you know.

I guess I watch too much Law & Order: SVU.
