Just curious, are you one of the 34% (heard this on MSNBC this morning) that shops on BLACK Friday?? Me....well, I SWORE up and down I wouldn't, I did it a few years back, I've got the scares to prove it "LOL!" BUT.....our favorite outdoor store, Popular Outdoors, is having a BARN BURNER of a sale Friday.....*sigh* YUP, I'm going!

I will brave it this year for the first time since I need to get some material to make my hubby's Christmas gift, a fleece robe. The fabric is on sale for a 1.99 a yard instead of the usual 6.99 a yard. I will get about 4 1/2 yards of it and 8 yards of a flannel that is on sale for .99 ayard instead of the usual 3.99 a yard to make a lighter weight robe than the fleece . I have to get to the store before noon since the sale ends at that time. The only drawback is I have to get up before 5 to take my hubby to work so I can have the car.

Probably- we've got some killer coupons for foleys to go with the 100+$ in wedding gift certificates and some pen money I'd been setting aside for finishing out the kitchen.

ALTHOUGH.... last night I discovered how crowded the grocery store can be the few days before thanksgiving and it scared me! I'd never attempted to shop this close to Thanksgiving during the "normal" hours- I went around 2am to the 24 hour krogers to get my turkey and it wasn't a problem.

I had to make 3 trips down the baking aisle because I couldn't park my cart long enough to pick up the spices I needed- people kept pushing it further and further down the aisle until I was out of the aisle entirely. I fought off 2 other ladies for the last 12 pound turkey with a timer... It was scary...

I worked at Kroger during my senior year in high school. I'll never forget how crazy it was right before Thanksgiving! And that was before they went to 24 hours! We were so crowded and trying to keep all the carts available for shoppers but we kept running out! And, my gosh, what a workout my arms got lifting those turkey-filled grocery bags into people's cars!

Total madness!

This is what I posted in another thread:

, I'm tellin' ya, after "20 years" in the meat business, I "LOVE" takin' this week off! I use to "HATE" Thanksgiving with a passion!! My last Thanksgiving in the business, I'll never forget it....we had turkeys on sale for 29 cents LB., I ordered a SEMI load of turkeys, 28 PALLETS, 50 cases per pallet, 4 turkeys per case and I sold OUT!!!! Every bird had to be weighed and priced seperatly! No wonder I've got a bad back "LOL!"

I "KNOW" first hand of what your refering to GD.....do I miss the grocery business?? Believe it or not.....I DO, just not THIS WEEK "LOL!"

I'm doing the first tee at 11:15 on Friday. That's about as close as I want to come to the shopping craziness! :-)

I probably will go to a store or two on Black Friday.

Actually, some of my friends go shopping TODAY because there's alot of good "unannounced" sales.

My contribution on Black Friday is usually to guard the home front. :D Not this year!! Our daughter is moving from one apartment to another across town and guess who is helping?? Actually we made her get movers for the heavy stuff. Ya know, my friend "Arthur itis" and old age make heavy lifting for this dude a no-no. Done enough moves of my own to suffice for a lifetime anyway!!! We of course are paying for half the move cost and will be unpacking and setting up till He!! freezes over!(now where is that picture when I need it? ) Shop some for me guys and gals!!!
