Iraq threatens halt to cooperation

March 2 — A top Iraqi official indicated Sunday that Baghdad could cut off its destruction of banned Al Samoud 2 missiles if the United States signals it will attack. The threat came as U.N. weapons inspectors held talks with Iraq over stocks of biological and chemical weapons that Baghdad says have been destroyed

I would almost bet that wahat has been destroyed so far were missiles under construction or even missile parts. Saddam has no intent of disarming and never has. We might as well get this charade over with and get on with the war. When we find the chemical weapons that have been hidden then our opponents will shut up!

You're right mf...Saddam has no intent of fully disarming. He is just playing games.

DJ, will tell you I am a "peacenick" from way back!! I HATE WAR!! I HATE WHAT WAR DOES TO THIS WORLD!!! But if a dictator or nation or whatever is supporting COWARDS(can't call them terrorists!!) or harboring COWARDS, or supplying COWARDS or violating numerous agreements and treaties, we, whether we like it or not are the "protectors of the world" and we must deal with the situation.

I agree I do not think it has ever been his intention of ever fully disarming, I think he is having a whale of a time causing disruption between the all powerful Western Nations, and frankly I think he is having a good laugh. Lets show him who has the last laugh!

I heard they've destroyed 8 full missiles so far. At least thats what the news told me

Yes, Iraq SAID that...but the inspectors have yet to confirm it (for all we know, only the missile casings were torched; where are the engines, warheads and payloads? Inquiring minds want to know...)

The only sure way to get a job done right is to do it yourself! I'm sure we can destroy those missiles for Saddam in a way that there is no doubt.

As I understand comments made by General Franks lately, they are almost hopeing that one of the Republican Gueard units will try and make a stand. The idea is that of they do, the full force of the US military will be brought to bear against them to make a very visual example. Remeber the road leading out of Kuwait City? By showing the other Iraqi forces what happens they hope to accelerate the defections and prevent higher casualties on both sides.
