Suing the President?

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Tue Mar 04, 2003 6:40 pm

This just in from FoxNews; the parents of a serviceman already deployed in the Persian Gulf are suing the President, stating in the complaint that he has no power to wage war without a Congressional declaration.

They noted that they had "no idea how (their) son felt about this"... ...and apparently haven't noted that the United States has not had a declaration of war since December 8, 1941; yet we have been engaged in a seemingly endless host of wars, conflicts and "police actions/humanitarian missions in force" since then.

It should also be of some interest that suits of this nature have been filed before, and have been summarily dismissed as frivolous by the courts.

Questions and/or comments, anyone?

They say that no declaration of war from congress is out but they are wrong because congress passed a resolution backing the president in the Iraqi situation and that was in october.

Really, do the American people have This much time on their hands?? Instead of worrying about making some quick money, maybe they should be praying for their son and doing some good in this messed up world!

The parents in this short subject looked like they were in their late 50's-early 60's in age, but their hair and clothing were right out of a "Woodstock" picture; the attorney representing them was glazen-eyed, and sounded "flat", as if he were reciting a scripted response under the influence of a "designer" drug-enhanced state of being.

If they weren't so serious about it, they'd be laughable....on the other hand, they are, anyway!

Those parents are crybabies and I want to smack them. Their baby was a big boy when he volunteered for the armed forces and he should have known what he was getting in to.

-WARNING- Joining the armed forces could result in discomfort, stress, inconvenience, injury and death. Never mind that you will be giving the highest possible service to the greatest nation that ever existed on the face of the earth. Just worry about your career training, the benefits, and finding yourself.

Hooey!

Well, my feeling is that their son may not know what they're doing, BUT...after kicking @$$ in Iraq, he may want to come HOME and do a little "housecleaning"?

Well, there's no arguing against that. All these people who have led sheltered lives, never been shot at, never felt real terror, trying to say how things really are! I have to include myself in that category. I'm just a worm.
