Small earthquake - VA

#1 Postby GalvestonDuck » Tue Dec 09, 2003 4:30 pm

Fox 5 news in Washington, DC is reporting an earthquake earlier this
afternoon with the epicenter approx 30 miles west of Richmond. The
4.6 quake could be felt as far away as Washington. No damage or
casualties reported.

Not really...rattled some dishes maybe. A 6 or 7 is more intense -- more damage to building structures. An 8 is severe.

A 4.6 earthquake can certainly be felt. It is less "dramatic" in California, than Virginia.

Well, my grandparents didn't feel a thing. they are in White Plains, MD, across the Potomac and inland from Woodbridge. They saw the news reports, but nothing more.

Yeh kinda weird actually. This would have probably been the only time i could have slept thru an earthquake at 4pm but exams are killer and i needed my rest. Sigh maybe i will be awake for the next one. We didn't get the brunt of it neways though. That was further north.
