An update from Tulsa
Count Flu Watch
The Oklahoma Health Department says the flu has reached epidemic proportions. The demand for the flu vaccine in Tulsa is still high. The visiting nurses association made 600 doses of the flu vaccine available this morning but they did not last long. People lined up for the latest round of flu shots and within two hours they were all gone. The Tulsa City-County Health Department says they were not surprised by the current flu onslaught. They have been watching the hospitals and pharmacies and say they saw this coming before Thanksgiving. Two years ago the health department developed a relationship with all five local hospitals to monitor illnesses in the area and watch for trends. You can check the county's illness statistics on line to see how it has changed since November. Log onto “tulsabiowatch.com” and check out the Tulsa area surveillance.

I already expressed my distress in a previous thread about trying to get a flu shot. I guess I will just have to risk it.

Shots ran out here in WNY, too. I wasn't going to get one, but it is all over the news. I am afraid people are going to panic, due to this media hype. There is a danger, I don't disagree with that, but the media is hyping people dying, but tens of thousands of people die every year from the flu. I don't think this year is unusual in that manner.

If I get sick, and I die, it's God's choice.
I am not wanting to turn this into a religious debate, but I respectfully disagree with you on this point. That is just like saying, "I'll stand in this busy intersection and if someone hits me then I guess it is my time." I believe that the Good Lord also instilled some common sense into us. We should take measures to keep ourselves safe. If there comes a time when you don't feel like the medicine is working then you may turn it over to the prayer warriors and the Almighty, but so early is, IMHO, not real well thought out.
We just got through discussing this issue in class the other day. A family let 2 of their 6 children die by refusing medicine and exclusively relying on faith healing. Want to know what they had originally? An ear infection and a spider bite. Both could have been cured with antibiotics, but they both needlessly had to die.
I hope I haven't offended anyone...that was not my intention, but I wanted to share this information as when I hear people say things like that, if often worries me.

Az has run out of the shots, more fatalities this morning, not quite sure the age. So far, 5 senior citizens and 3 kids under the age of 8 have died.
As far as faith healing......well, I'm a Southern Baptist by baptism, currently going to a Pentacostal church who believe 110% in healings, I've seen 2 MIRACLES happen thus far BUT.........as you said Garrett, God gave us the common sense and we NEED to use it!

Me, I've never had a flu shot in my life. Don't do Doctors or shots very well at all.
We're out of vaccine in Pittsburgh too.

Garrett.... my life has been so full of crap that sometimes I wish I would be hit by a car. It seems at some points people at my school don't even care about me. What I was saying is that if God thinks that it's time for me to go.. and I have the flu, the flu will take me like it has taken some other people on OK and CO.. but i'm all better now so that shouldn't be a problem.
