When the military action begins it will be 10 times the bombs that falled in 1991 and this campain is directed to cause the Iraqies to demoralize rapidly and terminate the war quickly but one thing is the planning and the other is in the reallity when it happens but I think that the US will have a vigorous bombing campain and depose Saddam as quickly as possible I hope it happens that way.

I would say that we're far from having our back turned on North Korea! The 24 new bombers on Guam along with the 30,000 plus men and women on the ground say different.

I really think its a dumb tactic. Given the accuracy of our bombings in Bosnia where we hit the chinese embassy and in afganistan where we hit hospitals and canadian troops i think the bombing should be sparse and used where it is needed. Bush said he did not want to destroy their infrastructure, but by dropping 10 times the amt of bombs dropped during the whole Gulf War shows the complete opposite.

Agree Dennis with what you said about North Korea looking at the Iraqi war as the chance to make more nukes and to test misseles but I dont think that they are foolish to send a nuke to the west coast of the US or to Japan.

We aren't dropping ten times the bombs...what we ARE doing is to direct specific, precision ordnance to clear targets, and have the ability to do it within 24-48 hours, rather than six weeks as in 1991.

Destroy Iraq's communications, power installations, water purification plants, supplies, radar and SAM/AA sites, along with command-and-control centers, and the Iraqi Republican Guard acts as a snake without a head...aimless, needing orders from "on-high" (the bane of dictatorships), and getting none...not to mention hunger and thirst.

Sources we have in Kurdish territory say that they are hosting increasing numbers of Iraqi army defectors, who are terrified of what we can do, and report that the rank-and-file, other than a few die-hards, will drop their weapons at the very first sign of invasion.

Just a couple of things, whenever you engage in war there will be incidents and accidents. You try and minimize the number of event but mistakes and failures happen. A case in point, the Canadians that were killed was a human mistake pure and simple. Tragic but a fact. The fact that we may drop 10 times and many munitions isn't as important as to where we drop them. Infrastructure targets 12 years ago were hit intentionally to reduce the ability of Saddam to control and support his troops. There was also an attempt to punish Iraq for the damage done to Kuwait. This time I expect much less damage to be done to infrastructure targets bucause they will be need for the reconstruction of Iraq. Expect Presidential Palaces and military targets to be hammered by newer and much more accurate munitions in much greater volumes.

I think that NK is going to take full advantage of our involvement in Iraq. I sure do hope that we can handle both! We won't be getting much help if we can't.

Kim does not think logically, otherwise he would know that any nuke launched against the US would result in an immediate nuclear response that would leave nothing but ashes in the PDRK-there has never been any planned response other than that to a nuclear attack on this Country.

Insofar as Iraq is concerned, the Pentagon has unveiled the latest little device referred to by the nickname MOAB (Mother Of All Bombs) which has twice the explosive power of the Daisy Cutter making it the largest non nuclear weapon in the US Inventory.

I think we're about to see the newest version of blitzkreig that the world as ever seen. I sincerely pity the first Iraqi unit that decides to make a stand, they are going to be made into an example for the rest of the army.

I'll say again, we do not have our backs turned on North Korea. There is absolutely no basis for that opinion in reality. We have 37,000 full time eyes on North Korea not counting satelites and planes like the U-2, SR-71, and various Elint birds like the RC-125. That doesn't even count assests like the various Air Force assets in Japan, Guam, Alaska and other naval assest like submarines. You can bet that North Korea is being watched very closely.

Also, contrary to popular belief a single nuke while devastating would not take out the entire west coast.

We have the capability to detect a nuclear missile launched towards our shores and it would have little chance on making it here before we blew it out of the air. I am not saying that we should take such threats lightly, but the likelihood of it reaching the west coast is small.
