More Than She Banked On - What Would You Have Done?

#1 Postby southerngale » Sat Dec 20, 2003 1:34 pm

WESTON, Fla. - A woman got a lot more than she asked for at a McDonald's drive-thru. Janice Meissner ordered a bagel and a Diet Coke for breakfast, but her bag of food seemed unusually heavy. She soon discovered the bag was loaded with hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars in a sealed plastic bag.
The money turned out to be the restaurant's bank deposit. Officials for McDonald's said the deposit was put in a food bag to make it less obvious before it was taken to the bank. It was accidentally left too close to the drive-thru window and the employee didn't check twice before sending it out the window. Meissner did a double take after opening the bag before backing up her minivan to the window to return the money. McDonald's officials said they will send Meissner a thank-you letter and $50 in gift certificates.

I agree about the reward. Can you imagine how much money was in that bag for deposit? She should have received more.

Most McDonalds are located near interstates, in my town's case its right off the exits from I-95. And not many people check their orders before driving off...and once you hit the on-ramp, theres no turning back. I applaud this woman

Methinks a policy change is in order for that location...

WHOA!!! Can you imagine getting home and opening that up?!

I'd like to think I could keep it, but it would eat away at me and I would have to give it back.....oh the horror of having a conscience!!

Yikes!

If she did end up going home, (back to) work or someplace else with all that money... there must be a way McDonald's could track her down.

Put a smile on my face! :)

Glad she was honest... the reward was really stingy in my opinion...

I once left a bank deposit bag on the counter of the local post office. $700 in small bills.

An "anonymous" subject turned it into the post office clerk.

As it was money from our newspaper account, we posted a very nice front page thank you in the next day's paper.

I suffered through a very red face with my boss...promising, of course, to pay in full if it had not been turned in.

Maybe Mickey D's should provide a happy meal a day for the rest of that person's life!

But then again...all that MacDonald's food would probably equate to a death sentence!
