Favorite Christmas Song

#1 Postby azsnowman » Tue Dec 23, 2003 11:28 am

I know this was done a few days ago, I went back 10 pages and couldn't find it :roll: SO.......let's do it again, what's your favorite Christmas song. Mine would have to be "Christmas For Cowboys" by the late, GREAT, John Denver!

Christmas For Cowboys

Tall in the saddle we spend Christmas day
Driving the cattle on the snow-covered plains.
All of the good gifts given today;
Ours is the sky and the wide open range.

Back in the cities, they have different ways,
Football and eggnog and Christmas parades.
I'll take the blanket; I'll take the reins;
Christmas for Cowboys and wide open plains.

A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night;
The stars overhead are the Christmas-tree lights.
The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray;
Christmas for Cowboys and the wide open plains.

Mmmmmm.....mmmmm...

It's tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day,
Driving the cattle on the snow-covered plains.
So many gifts have been opened today;
Ours is the sky and the wide open range.
It's Christmas for Cowboys and wide open plains.

Too many to count, but I'll try to post SOME of them...

"Adeste Fideles (O, Come, All Ye Faithful)"
"O, Sanctissima"
"Carol of the Bells"
"Good King Wenceslaus"
"Stille Nacht (Silent Night)"
"We Three Kings"
"The Little Drummer Boy"
"Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"

So, I'm a traditionalist... :wink:

I love Silent Night, Silver Bells, The Christmas Song, and every piece of the Messiah that I sang in high school, oh how I miss singing!!

It's a tossup between O Holy Night, Mr. Garrison's "Merry (bleep)ing Christmas" from South Park, and "Randolph the Brown-Nosed Reindeer" :D

I forget where this came from, but it's a "hippie" ditty from the 60's...

"Santa Claus has a red suit
He's a Communist
Has long hair and a beard
Must be a pacifist!
What's in the pipe that he's smoking???
Santa Claus steals in your house at night
He must be a dope fiend, to put you uptight!" :eek:

Mary did you know .... this song I cant hear without a few tears, because it's just so overwhelming.

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered
Will soon deliver you

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
You've kissed the face of God

Mary, did you know?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding
Is the Great I Am

Oh Mary did you know?

I shed a couple tears when this song gets played on the all-Christmas music light rock station in my area.

There are so many but one really gets to me..."O Holy Night"

By the time they get to "Fall on your knees..." I get chills...beautiful song.

There are so many great ones though.
