In my predictions for 2004, I originally wrote:5) A character on ER will become a parent (and I'm not talking about Carter).

Gotta admit, I already knew about this one (as if you guys didn't know ). It's going to be an intense episode, involving Abby and Neela working in the neonatal ICU. From what I've read of the script, we don't know who the parent is until the camera pans up to show her face after Abby delivers the baby. If you don't want to be surprised and want to know it is, highlight here:
You must be kidding if you think I'm gonna give it away.

Shawn - what?!!! What?!!! I saw clips of next week's show but wow, didn't pick up what you're referring to! Okay so the mom of this baby is not a stranger to the ER? It's someone we know? Mmmmmmm, I'm not sure I want to click on that.

Mary

Edit - I clicked on it. I'm so darn confused at this point Shawn, I don't know what the heck I'm even asking here. LOL It's not Lizzie is it? Wait, I would like to know where you get your info from! Do you know an ER writer or crew member?

http://www.spoilerfix.com/er.php is where I get my spoiler info. Apparently, there's a leak in the ER script department. :) Some of it's just basic blah-blah-blah about what's going to happen in the next episode. But sometimes, they give you a real surprise.

Warning -- don't go there until after you watch this episode if you don't want to know. Or, if you do go, just read about the first one "Touch and Go," which was last week's episode. "NICU" is next week's episode.

Shawn - well, I peeked. Weaver did cross my mind but truthfully I was expecting (pun intended!) someone else. And I kept reading. Since I was so hoping this once great show would rebound. By some miracle I guess I was hoping to read - Mark Greene lives - or the last few seasons have all been a dream! LOL No seriously, it is addicting to keep reading that sight. Okay, that said are all these spoilers from audience members? I did read Friends too but shouldn't have. Sounds like we still don't know if R/R will get together in the end or not yet. I have decided to stop reading Friends spoilers. I want to be surprised with that show.

LOL, JQ! Parminder was also in the soccer flick "Bend It Like Beckham." Never saw it myself, but I heard it was a good sports/chick flick.

I actually enjoyed this ER episode. A break from the ER but still a hospital setting. Not the Congo! I thought Abby was superb in this episode. She's annoyed me off and on, but this ep she seemed so in tune with the families, not just the preemies. When the tears rolled down her face, mine started. So sad. I like Neela too. Yes, Abby has that 'something', whatever it is. I do think though Abby went from Head Nurse to MD rotations awfully fast! In real life, it doesn't happen that quickly does it? Even though she's a nurse and has that medical background, she would be in Med School a few years before doing rotations wouldn't she? That little detail has bugged me for weeks now. :-)

Hey, I'm up over 2000 posts now!!! Wow, hadn't been watching my count that closely till now.

Thanks!

I believe that in one of the episodes, it said that she had completed some of her Med training prior to taking the job in the ER. I could be wrong, but for some reason, that sticks with me.

Yeah, she started to go to med school once before but her ex refused to pay, even though she had worked to support him when he was in school. Kerry was all in favor of Abby going to med school and was disappointed when she didn't. Honestly, I think they're sort of carrying this over from an episode called "Calling Dr. Hathaway" when Carol was contemplating going to med school.

I'm going to have to do some looking, but I think Abby might be a second or third-year student now. They just don't really show her going to classes or anything...same for the other students.

Anyone notice that Kerry made a point of giving them cider instead of real champagne? Although they haven't really made a big deal about it, I think Abby's finally decided to take control of her drinking again. Good thing -- if she wants to get through med school.

Yep, picked up on the alcohol free 'champagne'. Comfused Neela though, can't blame her after for that grueling rotation. I think I'd be needing a drink....but Abby still played it cool. Made it sound like she didn't care for champagne. Always keep 'em guessing Abby. John would have been proud. It was also nice to see those two interact last night and in a more private way. You could tell they each wanted to say more but with things as they are, what they did say was best - keep it light and move on. I don't know though something tells me his g/f's pregnancy won't go well and/or the mom will die. Then Abby and John could still end up together in the end. Stranger things have happened.

Thanks Duck and Blizzard for clearing up my confusion on the timing of Abby's Med rotations. I do recall she wanted to go to med school a few years ago. And yes it does sound a lot like Hathaway's story. But in the end Carol knew being a good head nurse was where she was really needed. I actually applauded her for that decision. Just be happy where you're at and do the best job possible.

Same thinking here. Kerry lost her baby the first time and then the writers redeemed themselves by letting Sandy have one for them. At first it was touch and go after delivery, but he ended up being fine. No major drama there.

So it seems to open up the possibility that Carter and Kem's situation won't go as well. I got kind of sick of the back and forth Carter/Abby, Abby/Luka, Carter/Abby, Carter/Susan, Luka/and anyone, and back to Carter/Abby crap. I'd be happy with Carter/Abby if they'd just get happy like Mark and Elizabeth were and get the drama out of there.
