Announcement....Mr & Mrs KatDaddy to become parents in 2

#1 Postby KatDaddy » Mon Jan 12, 2004 9:22 pm

Exciting and spooky for two persons who deemed they would never have kids.......6 1/2 years later we changed our minds. Being our mid 30s we feel we are a little old to start a family. It happened very fast after we decided and planned.

Ah Yes, of course very happy........ a new chapter in life has begun.

This is where I ask for advice, viewpoints, etc. For Storm2k is a second family and I have many friends from many years.

On a side note my wife is due Aug 2nd........perfect timing of a major hurricane to strike the Houston-Galveston area.....I can just see it!

A year of changes for to say the least.

Thanks for any input :)

Well, you should start thinking of a name! Here's a small list of suggestions: Alex, Bonnie, Charley, Danielle, Earl, Frances, Gaston (not recommended), Hermine, Ivan (again, not recommended), Jeanne, Karl, Lisa. I think that should suffice. Congrats!!

Congrats Katdaddy.

As for advice, viewpoints, etc, we've got 'em. You'll have to be a little more specific so we know where to start!

Congratulations, Brian!!!! I'm thrilled for you both!

Not being a parent myself, I can't really offer much but prayers and happy thoughts! (Oh, and definitely agreement with Lyle -- skip on Gaston for a name. :) )

Ditto on that 30s thing - that's not too old to have kids. I had my first at age 32, second at 35! I'm a much better parent at this age than had I had kids in my 20s, I think. Wiser, more mature - ha, whatever that is. But I'm still young at heart too, that's important.

Names.....well speaking from experience if you get your heart set on a name, I'd suggest keeping it to yourselves. We did just that, otherwise I know we would have received negative comments. I just didn't want to hear feedback - oh thaaaaat's a nice name, have you ever thought of such and such though? So when asked if we had names picked out, I'd fib a little and say - oh well, we're leaning towards one or two but will decide when the baby is born. A lie! We had Nina picked out from the day she was conceived! LOL

Hey Katdaddy...congratulations on the upcoming addition. Of course there are a lot of folks willing to give advice and share experiences....but every child is unique; every family unique. You will be wonderful parents I'm sure.

But while you are at it...shoot for August 6th. That's Poppysky's granddaughter Emma's birthday!

Tell your wife good luck with the summer pregnancy. Whew it gets hot!

Well, I "raised" five nephews and two nieces, four stepchildren and am into the sophomore year of HS with my son, coppertop.

That's 24/7/365, and congratulations! :D

Boy, are you in for a wild ride. Don't put up with tantrums. They will use it against you. You're going to have lots of chances for blackmail photos. Don't be without film. When they get older you can use that against them.
 It may not seem funny at the time but it will when they grow up. We'll call it self defense.

Have fun,
Debbie

That's terrific news! Congrats to both of you!

We've had 2 in the last three years, so if there's anything I can help with, feel free to ask. (Except for the 2 AM feedings... ) Right now, just relax and enjoy!
