If you like Bush do not read this.

Well our great fearless leader wants to put Americans on the moon again. I suggest to Mr. Bush that he volunteer for the first new lunar mission, and not return to earth. That would be the nicest thing he ever did for this country. With skyrocketing crime and millions of Americans with no health insurance this money could be much better spent.

He wants to see an allied effort, not just America.

The crime rate actually went down for 2002 but lets not let facts stand in the way of emotion. Here are the reports:

http://www.cjlf.org/releases/03-26.htm

62% of americans have insurance. The others can get medicaid or medicare but regardless, no hospital can refuse emergency service to any ill person, insurance or not. We spend more and more each year on social programs but do you see and end in sight.

Without space exploration we would not have communications, microwaves, GPS, Television, velcro, safety devices on cars, and many other things. Imagine if someone had told Columbus that his trip was too expensive.

Also, we do not know what the future of this solar system or planet ,may bring. Our sun will die someday and with it, this planet. It may be thousands of years but it will happen. Remember the next time you hear about some close call by an asteroid or comet. We may have to leave this planet one day or our children, God forbid.

If Bill Clinton or Howard Dean had proposed this, would you feel the same?

Hmmm.... my question is this: why spend money on space when our children's schools are falling apart?? Use that money here.

Rainband: My thoughts are along the same lines. I somewhat like Bush, maybe not as much as I use to, but I think we need to spend money "ON EARTH". I am just not entirely sold on this outter space thing. I think with everything we have going on the home planet, terrorism, schools, and I know I am missing much more, funds would be more appropriately spent in more "local" pastures, than 5 million miles away!
