Rep. Kaptur 'Happy' She Praised bin Laden; Media Give Her a Pass

WASHINGTON - The left-wing media establishment, which saturated the airwaves and newspaper front pages with a classic feeding frenzy over Sen. Trent Lott’s kind words for 100-year-old Strom Thurmond, is unable to express the slightest concern over a leftist lawmaker’s kind words for a terrorist mass murderer.

"One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation-state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind of atypical revolutionaries that helped cast off the British crown,” Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, told the Toledo Blade.

NewsMax.com made repeated requests to top House Democrat leaders to determine if they were prepared to disavow this insult to America’s Founding Fathers. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., refuse to comment.

In Hoyer’s case, the refusal to speak was explicit. Pelosi’s office simply failed repeatedly to respond to our inquiries.

A Google search showed very little record of news coverage in the major media of the amazing remarks, beyond any exposure the outlets might have been given to a brief AP story. The Google search indicated some small and medium-size papers carried it.

The Washington Post slapped that wire report on the back page of its front section. Fox News Channel publicized it, as did the Washington Times in its Inside Politics Section. So too did such radio talk show hosts as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

But amongst the establishment media, the coverage ranged from zip to a mere footnote at best.

One commentary that was conspicuous by its exception to the rule appeared on the Web site of MSNBC, which is inclined to give the non-leftist view more space than it has allowed on its cable channel.

"Now, I’ve got to tell you, folks, the fact that a member of our own United States Congress would compare bin Laden’s action to our Founding Fathers is about as disturbing as it gets,” wrote Joe Scarborough. "Now, George Washington never targeted women and children for execution like Osama bin Laden. And Benjamin Franklin never advocated the murder of thousands of civilians like al Quaeda. And Thomas Jefferson never once suggested that those praying to a God other than their own be marked for murder as infidels.”

Kaptur's Glad She Made the Vile Remark

The insolent Kaptur says "that not only does she not regret comparing Osama bin Laden to American Revolutionary War figures, she’s happy for a greater platform to criticize the Bush administration’s handling of the brewing conflict with Iraq," the Blade reported.


"There is absolutely no regret because I want the American people to understand the nature of the enemy," the Democrat dimwit insisted.


Publicity over Kaptur’s outrageous comment has received a tiny fraction of the publicity that bombarded Americans after Lott’s tribute to Thurmond. This is nothing new, of course, as the case of Democrat Sen. Patty "Osama Mama" Murray reveals.

Believe it or not, there are still people in denial, insisting that there is no such thing as "leftist bias” in the media. That is belied both by multiple studies and by specific instances such as meager coverage in this case.

Kaptur says she's glad she compared Osama bin Laden to our Founding Fathers. It's time to change what's left of her mind. Bombard her with demands to apologize or resign! Contact her bosses, too.

I actually heard that quote on a radio show Sunday evening...I forget which one it was. They were showing several anti-American, hypocritical quotes. That's where I got that Chrissie Hynde statement from. If you want the website, go to:
