About five minutes ago, the sirens began sounding here in town. They just went off. My immediate thought was -- tornado, because it had been looking kind of stormy. I checked the radar and there was nothing. My next thoughts were not pleasant. I ran to the television -- nothing.
I am not sure why the sirens went off. They went off today at 1:30, but that was the statewide drill. I was in touch with the city concerning this story and there was to be no other siren sounded today. Hmmm...

I made a call to the Emergency Management Office. They are not sure why it went off. An investigation is underway.

I called Murray, the editor of the town paper. He said that all the Emer. Management is telling him is that "there was a reason" the siren went off, but will not say why. He said he would e-mail me as soon as he hears.

Just got an e-mail from Murray. Apparently, a plane was flying too low on the south side of town...and would not answer the airport tower. They sounded the siren as a precaution.
