Did "Frasier" jump the shark tonight?

It's hard to say since there are only a handful of episodes left and the rest of them hopefully will be up to the usual standards (especially the finale!). But IMO, tonight's episode took a strange path with the dreams and musical sequence. It sort of like when ER does a character-centered episode or an out-of-the-ER episode like the ones in Africa or the one where Mark and Doug took a road trip.

I agree - I tuned into the last 10 minutes and I must say it was VERY STRANGE. :-?

I'm going to miss that show - especially "Eddie".

I enjoy episodes when the entire gang goes on a trip. Only person missing here was Roz. So starting off it was funny. The dreams were comical. Frasier's dream was very funny, even if typical. Niles as an inept new father was well, only so-so funny. My daughter kept saying that scene was so fake. The set looked like something out of a Disney flick. But when Marty got up on stage, in his tux and started singing, the show came very close to the ramp. You could tell the actor who plays Marty felt uncomfortable in that role! A definite deviation from the usual Frasier content. But Eddie's dream saved the show. We all chuckled at Eddie chowing down on a roasted turkey. Cute.

Let's hope Frasier returns to what's tried and true. Daphne should be having the baby soon so we have that to look forward to.

PS - edit here....I caught an old Wings rerun today. I had no idea the characters of Frasier and Lilith appeared on an episode of Wings before! Priceless to see Frasier on Wings, wearing a Train Conductor's hat and whistle, giving advice to the whole town at the "Crane Train". Hilarious stuff!

BTW, for those who might be wondering, "jumping the shark" refers to an event or situation that happens in a television show and leads fans to feel that "it's all downhill from here." It originated after Fonzie "jumped the shark" on waterskis on "Happy Days." The show was never the same after that. Sometimes, it refers to a moment when two main characters finally do the deed. Occasionally, it's one of those "very special episodes." I think Frasier was best before Niles and Daphnie got together. That was one of the comic dynamics that was lost and made the show a little too serious at times (plus, no more Mariss stories!) Still, though, I think Frasier is on the pinnacle of modern sit-coms because it doesn't generally sink to low levels of humour.
