Gallup poll shows Kerry and Edwards beating Bush

Kerry beats by double digits Bush 55-43%.Also for the first time in a poll Edwards beat Bush in this poll 54%-44%.But with almost 10 months for the election to take place many things can happen but IMO it will be a close race once again maybe not like the 2000 one but close indeed.

I guess it depends on the poll. But I'm with you Linda....they mean nothing now. Just yesterday, polls showed Kerry whipping Edwards like 50something % to Edwards in the teens. hmmmm
Anyway, I have NO DOUBT that Bush will be re-elected. I cannot imagine the American public would choose not to re-elect someone who has done such a tremendous job.

February 18, 2004--President George W. Bush now leads Massachusetts Senator John F. Kerry by five points in the latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll. As of this morning, Bush attracts support from 48% of the nation's likely voters while Kerry is the choice for 43%.
Today's reading is the largest lead for either candidate since John Kerry became the Democrat's front-runner. For most of February, the two candidates have been essentially even. Three days ago, Kerry assumed a modest lead that now appears to be statistical noise.

Kerry enjoyed an enormous bounce from positive coverage during the Primary campaign to draw even with Bush. However, in the race for the Democratic nomination, he lost ground among Democrats nationally over the past several days.

It seems that Bush has had some minor things to attend to like Terrorism, the War in Iraq, finding OBL....you know..just little things.

Cyc, Rasmussen is a well respected poll too......as far as polls go. I had just seen the Rasmussen one earlier today so when I saw you post this one, I had to post the other too.

I'm truly shocked there's even that many who support Kerry at this time. I just don't get it. :-?

A new poll conducted by Zogby International for The O’Leary Report and Southern Methodist University’s John Tower Center from February 12-15, 2004 of 1,209 likely voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points found that if the election for president were held today, Democrat John Kerry would edge George W. Bush 46% to 45% in the “blue states” – or states won by Al Gore in the 2000 election. In the “red states,” or states won by George W. Bush in 2000, however, Bush wins handily by a 51% to 39% margin.

If polls don't mean a thing, why would anyone be concerned about them turinng around when Bush gets going? Life is so interesting, and thank goodness everyone isn't the same, but I just can't understand anyone really thinking Bush has done a terrific job. Our huge budget deficit, approximately 500 billion, is one big turn off for me.

I think what she meant is that the polls don't mean much right now, but after Bush starts campaigning and all of it isn't coming from the Dems side, they're likely to change.


He has done a terrific job....I shiver to think of how things would have been handled had Gore been elected.
Maybe you're forgetting about a little thing called WAR and protecting Americans......that costs money. Thank God Bush has some backbone!!

As I said, we're all different and have different outlooks about the same situations. I'm not a Democrat, however. I can't go along with abortion. I'm not a Republican, either, though, because of several reasons. Not all Democrats think alike just as not all Republicans think alike, though. Peace?

Yes Luis... I am. Not necessarily because of the numbers (I agree that Kerry and Edwards' numbers are inflated) but the fact that they are giving equal time to Edwards. For the last week or two it has been Kerry,Kerry,Kerry. He isn't the only person in the race and shouldn't be treated that way.

Agree Garrett on that but since this morning I haved seen much more coverage for Edwards since his strong second finish in Wisconsin but his real test will be on super tuesday on march 2 when 10 states are for grabs including NY,Ohio,CA,Georgia,Mass,RI,Vermont,Maryland,Minnessota and Connecticut.
