Off To Work We Go!

#1 Postby azskyman » Tue Mar 09, 2004 7:43 am

Just curious how many miles you drive to work or school each day. Was thinking about it last night when a potential employee Kathy was considering to hire would have a 50 minute drive each way every day. I wouldn't do that for long...especially for the $11 an hour job that is open.

I have an 18 mile trip one way each morning..mostly freeway, that takes me 22 minutes from driveway to parking lot.

How far do you drive? Or do you put miles on your car each day as part of your job? If so, about how many a day do you average?

Depends.....when we're not doing environmental impact, assessments, we drive ABOUT 30 miles per day, the days we do the assessments, we could drive OVER 60-70 miles ONE WAY!

I drive 50 miles one way to school each and every day of the week. It doesn't bother me unless the weather is bad.

About 25 miles is a state highway, the other 25 is Interstate.

I drive about 6 miles South of my house on a main thouroughfare. On a really bad day it may be a 25 minute commute, but usually is around 15 minutes at either the morning or evening commute, with the evening usually being the worst, and that is with about a 1/2 mile of construction and 2 school zones along my route. Can you say spoiled rotten!!!

My drive to work takes about 25 to 30 minutes. I believe it is approximately 13 miles each way.

I drive 49 miles each way to work. It takes about 50 - 55 minutes to get to work. There's really no traffic to speak of, so I don't mind. I've worked at places that were half the distance from my house but took almost as long to get there!

Take the bus to class. It's about an hour long trip and pretty close to about 15-20 miles away. Shows you how slow the driver goes lmao

Mine's about a 50-mile roundtrip. It's a 4-lane
with a 65 mph speed limit (that means 75 mph,
right?). ;)

I drive about 75 miles round trip. It's Turnpike and Parkway - have you ever driven around Pittsburgh?? -- it's the pits!!!!! We have so many rivers thus bridges and tunnels. YIKES!!! I just came back from Columbus, Ohio. Now there's a city with a good highway system.

I just moved so I haven't gotten the actual mileage yet, but going the speed limit (which I rarely do, lmao), it takes me exactly 15 minutes to get to work

I'm about 5 miles from work. It takes me 12 minutes by car, 25 minutes by bike and, 30 minutes by bus.

When I lived in the Philly suburbs, it was 5 miles and 30 minutes by car and 30 minutes by bike.

Well for me it is less than a quarter of a mile. Since I have the crossing location that is at the school it means it is right out my back door. I just walk across the back yard and I am on my crossing! I don't even crank up the car(if the car was home to crank!)

Right now, it takes hubby 5 mins from door to door. When we move, it's going to be a 15 min. drive on a very twisty mountain road. Not bad, but not the safest either. When we first drove to the casino a few weeks ago, I told him "NO way" to the job, just because of the extra dangers of the mountain road...guess he won :).

About a mile, in the summer, I can actually get to work faster by bicycle. Getting home is a different story....lol
