Raleigh Here We Come!

#1 Postby Skywatch_NC » Sat Mar 13, 2004 5:05 pm

Dear Storm2K Family,

At 12:30 ET this afternoon a couple came through on our house during a showing (their second time) and have put down a bid that my folks have agreed to. The husband is a big band musician (don't know what kind of band) and he and his wife have been looking for a house to get settled into in two weeks and before his band starts another tour. So my folks and I will be packing like "there's no tomorrow" these next 2 weeks and the closing is Friday March 26th!

I feel numb and have to get myself psyched up after hearing the news about the bid offer and agreement...mixed emotions naturally after 15 years with the fine people of Roanoke Rapids.

But then, we'll only be about an hour and 45 minutes away so family and friends from up here can come down and see us without any problem!

The moving and storage company we've hired out of Raleigh is called "All My Sons".

We'll be living in an apartment in North Raleigh for a while and using another apartment for some storage...meanwhile my folks and I will be looking some more at condos as an option for residence a bit later. Currently my Dad has a computer at his apartment but no e-mail or internet...so will get that up sometime after we get settled...so it may be a while for me to be online again AFTER Thurs. March 25th. Movers will be here March 25th or earlier that week depending on how much packing my folks and I are able to do ourselves.

Please continue keeping us in your prayers.

God Bless You,

Eric

PS: Okay, I asked my Dad a few minutes ago about getting the internet up at his apartment once Mom and I move in with him and he said that if we were to do that it probably wouldn't be $$$$ feasible for just a couple months and then having to transfer it over once we move into a permanent residence...so I'll be offline after about March 24th.

I'll miss you all but I understand what my Dad means by the cost of having to transfer over so to say once we get established into our humble abode.

Gotta do what ya gotta do.

I'll find other means of recreation meantime.

I won't be offline "forever!" ((((HUGS))))

Eric, I can relate to your feelings about moving and being offline for a period of time. I lived in southeastern Massachusetts for 21 years, 4 months before moving here to central Florida... from 19 months old to a month and a third before my 23rd birthday.

I was offline the last few days of May 2000 to June 30th 2000, which is a little longer than you are expected to be. :) It was technically my brother's computer, so he was left with it. I got a new, which ended up being about a month after our move. It was the first PC bought at a Gateway dealer inside of an OfficeMax. Come to find out, only several months later it closed.

I wish you the best of luck with you move and will most definately await your return around the 24th of the month. :D

Tom, I found out that my Dad's current apartment lease isn't up until June 30th...so make that three months along with the last few days of March.

Aw man! Well if there is any good news out of it you are coming to RALEIGH!! Coolness, i didn't even know?! Hmmm...hopefully you can go to the local libraries and get on the internet everyonce and a while. The N. Raleigh library is around the corner of Six Forks rd. and Sawmill. I forget the actual road, but if you can get there you will be able to ask for directions. G'LUCK!

Thank you very much, Wxbuddy. :) I probably won't be doing all that much driving while in Raleigh...but we'll see. For restaurants I've eaten at like the K&S Cafeteria, Alanta Bread Company (if one likes a great sandwich, bowl of soup, dessert and beverage) and also one time I ate at a semi-fancy or so eatery called Lucky 32! :D

Eric - good luck with the move! We'll sure miss you around, while you're offline, but I know you'll be back! You'd never stay away that long, if I know you you'll be connecting ASAP - even if from the library. I wish you and your family all the best with this new move!

Thank you all so very much, Tom, JQ, Mary, Linda and Marshall! :D

My folks have put money down on a townhouse in an area called Wakefield Plantation between Wake Forest and Raleigh! :)

Here's an *UPDATE*!

The guy who put a bid on our house...still hasn't put up any "earnest" $$$ for the sale which is next week. He's a millionaire drummer in a rock band but must have a bad credit history. Then there's the Homeland Security laws now which banks or other financial institutions are required to comply by. Meanwhile, the folks have a townhouse in the works located between Wake Forest and Raleigh.

Yes, this has got to be the strangest move ever in our lives with the above mentioned circumstances.

We're having the mother of a local realtor come through our house a second time late this morning meanwhile.

Thank you very much for your prayers!

BTW...have any of you heard of Donnie Harris from the band Poco?

He's the guy who along with his wife, Tammy, have put a bid on our house...
she has family here in Halifax County and he wants to get her settled in before his next tour starts on April 1st.

Well, time for me to help Mom with some MORE packing!

BTW...in the apartment where my folks and I will be living for awhile before moving into our townhouse (sometime in May or June...the townhouse that is)
...anyway, in both places I'll be getting Time Warner Roadrunner...so will be changing my email address, too...will be able hopefully to hook-up again with ya'll before too long after we get settled into the apt! :D

C ya laters,

Eric 8-)

Eric, when I moved from Illinois it was an unsettling time.

We sold our house there in just a few days, so we had no place to live. I flew to Phoenix for six weeks in search of a job I also did not have...at age 51, I was worried I was a has been.

I lived in a hotel, then Kathy joined me...we moved to an apartment...and then to a house. So we had four addresses in a period from August through November.

As you can see, new opportunity opened up to us. In fact, I would never have met you without that move....so after all that moving and stress and anxiety, it has been a very good thing.

It will be for you too!

wow wakefield plantation is a great area. You probably won't ever leave that place because its almost like its own little town. You should like it if you like those planned neighborhoods.

Best of luck Eric! We will miss you, but I can understand where your father is coming from. Everything will work out in the end and you'll be back with your "S2K" family before too long!!!

I've heard of the band Poco. That's pretty cool! I'm sure that everything will work out fine with the sale.

Take care my friend! :D
