'SERIOUS' TERROR THREAT
France has received a new terror threat by an Islamist group and is taking it "very seriously", according to Reuters.
The French justice ministry said the threat came from a group called "Servants of Allah the Powerful and Wise".
The threats are linked to a controversial law that bans the wearing of headscarves in state schools, the newspaper that received the threatening letter said.
The warning spoke of possible attacks within France and against France's foreign interests.
It is unclear whether the group is known to French authorities and the nature of the threats has not been disclosed.
French Europe-1 radio reported that Le Parisien newspaper received a fax from the group, threatening attacks.
The justice ministry confirmed a communique had been delivered to the newspaper, adding that it was "not yet possible" to comment on the document's authenticity.
The Paris prosecutor has opened an investigation.
In the past weeks, French authorities have received terror threats from another little-known group that calls itself AZF.
The group claims to have planted nine bombs along the country's rail network and has threatened to explode them unless it was paid millions of dollars.
Information from AZF led to the recovery of an explosive device buried in the bed of a railway line near Limoges in central France in February.

Al Qaeda wants to destroy western civilization. In addition, France just banned religious clothing in schools.
French Government Bans Religious Clothing in Schools
France : 10th March 2004
In a move that has sparked protest across France, the French government last week passed a law banning public school students from wearing Jewish skullcaps, large Christian crosses, Sikh turbans and, most controversially, Muslim head scarves.
While the clothing restrictions in American public schools usually focus on interpretations of style and fashion -- blue hair, midriff tops, gang colors -- the focus in France is religion.
The 276-20 vote in the French Senate forbids religious apparel and signs that "conspicuously show" a student's religious affiliation. The law would not apply in private schools or in French schools in other countries.
Expected to take effect in September, the law must now go to French President Jacques Chirac, who has 15 days to sign it into law.
The conservative president is a strong supporter of the law, which he has said is needed to protect the French principal of secularism -- the idea that religion should be excluded from civil affairs or public education.
"To do nothing would be irresponsible. It would be a fault," Chirac told a closed-door Cabinet meeting last month.

F.S.B. planning major terrorist acts in France
Kavkaz Center news and information agency has received an e-mail from Special Department of the Southwestern Front of CRI Armed Forces, saying that according to the Chechen intelligence reports, Russian FSB (Federal Security Service formerly known as KGB) is preparing to carry out large-scale terrorist attacks on French soil, which will involve great human casualties. This information was received from one of the 9 invaders, who were captured by Chehcen troops on March 14 in Itum-Kala District of CRI.
The statement reads:
«One of the captives turned out to be an FSB officer, who told the Chechen side that the FSB agents are preparing a major terrorist act on the French soil. The officer reported that about 200 kilograms of explosives have already been delivered to France through diplomatic channels. At the present moment the explosives are stored on the premises of the Russian Embassy in Paris. During the first decade of March terrorist groups of the FSB, a total of four groups of two men each, completed all preparations necessary to carry out the blasts of cars and trains that will presumably be stuffed with explosives. It is a known fact that the explosive devices will go off from cellular phone signals».
A part of the mission of the FSB agent caught by Chechen authorities was to establish contacts with some individual Commanders of the active Chechen Resistance and incline them towards claiming responsibility for making the terrorist threats against the European states, including France. Russia has offered $2 million US dollars in cash in exchange. It has also been established that one of the ringleaders of Kadyrov's gang formations of collaborators is acting as a liaison in discussing these issues (nickname Musost, his units are operating in the city of Argun). Presumably, if the Commanders of the Chechen Resistance decline the deal, then Musost will make an announcement on behalf of the Chechen side and will claim responsibility for the terrorist attacks in France, which the FSB has prepared to be carried out.
We consider it of vital importance to warn the French government about the upcoming terrorist acts that Russian FSB is planning to perpetrate. We are also announcing that starting March 14, when the Russian POWs were captured, our bases up in the mountains were subjected to unceasing bombings at night. Judging by the targets set by Russian warplanes and by the intensity of the air strikes, the Russian command seems to be trying to remove the captives. One can only be guessing what purpose it is being done for».
