BREAKING NEWS: APARTMENT FIRE INJURES 1... WATER DAMAGE...

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Wed Mar 17, 2004 12:51 am

Hello Storm 2ker's.. I have breaking news..

Around 7:30-8pm eastern time.. A grease fire broke out at my apt. My roommate was cooking and apparently she either wasn't watching what she was doing or she just overcooked something and a fire started.

The fire was a grease fire and it almost got out of control. The sprinkler system came on and caused tremendous water damage to the front end of the apartment..

My room-mate wasn't even that thankful for me pulling her out of the apartment and getting her into a safe spot...

The fire got out of control because I panicked and couldn't figure out how to smother it. We even had a fire extinguisher but my mind wasn't there at the time..

I was hospitalized for about 2-3 hours because they wanted me to be checked up because of smoke inhalation..

If any of you are wondering.. My apt. complex is like a shared living space where elders share space with other elders {but a few youngens like myself are included.}

I finally got a wakeup call that I'd be better off without this woman in my apartment {with my Mom there also}..

I just wanted to let you guys know I am ok.. and yes my smoke inhalation was the self proclaimed "injury" lol..

I need prayers because Mom wasn't even home... she's been in the hospital and today {March 17th} is even her birthday! :cry:

I really can't sleep so if any of you answer me.. I'd appreciate it..

and by the way.. Shortly before the fire started.. I was 1/2 asleep. I can't imagine what would have happened if I were conked out :cry:

and 1 more time... IT WAS NOT MY FAULT! :cry: I'm sorry I keep saying that.. but it wasn't...

Thanks for listening..
John

John, glad you're OK and got some sleep. Grease fires are very dangerous indeed. I've used salt and baking soda to put out grease fires. You are really lucky. Give your Mom a hug and tell her Happy Birthday. Hang in there. ((Hugs))

OMG John!!! What a rough time you are having!!!! Trust me(from experience)-IT WILL GET BETTER-even though I know it seems like it won't right now. Look at it this way-You are fine and can give you Mom a big birthday hug for me!!! I know how tough it is to get past the downer stuff, but I am managing to do it slowly but surely and with your bright outlook you will too. And you learned a valuable lesson also, if indeed it is time to get rid of the other "tenant" in your apt.

Prayers heading your way for comfort and stress relief!!
