...believe it!
I fell for an urban legend...and after all these years, I found out it's not (quite) true.
I was actually visiting San Francisco in November of '78 with my mom when this happened. I remember on this particular morning, I was already dressed and waiting for her because we were going to go shopping. I was just 10 years old and really wasn't into the news as much as I am now. I was flipping through the channels on the TV and news had just broken about Dan White shooting Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk. I flipped through more channels, looking for something "fun" to watch and then I heard my mom holler, "DON'T CHANGE THAT CHANNEL! PUT THAT BACK ON!" She came running out to see what was going on. And of course, this was also back during all the Jonestown/Guyana massacre stuff.
After that, I was conditioned to stop and watch anytime "breaking news" came on the TV.
But as for the urban legend -- apparently what I'd heard and learned about the "Twinkie defense" wasn't true.
*gasp* I'm shocked!
