Its really horrible over there. My best friends husband is with the US Army over there and he was sent on a mission lastnight to retake a police station that the Iraqui's had taken back. He recently was hit in the head by an Iraqui with a brick, sustained minor wounds and feels lucky it was only a brick...it's real scary he says...he says things are progressivly getting worse by the day. I'm so sorry to hear of the losses. It breaks your heart, doesn't it?

Me too, she's traveling from Chicago to upstate NY back on base today, so she's unreachable til she arrives home.

This is bad news, but until they get all of the creeps causing trouble, there will continue to be casualties. We just need to pray that the guilty parties could be captured or killed soon!!!

As tragic as it is, we must stay the course and be resolved. The worst thing we can do right now is pack up and come home.

I feel for the troops.

While in Vietnam, I awoke one day to bulldozers filling in our protective bunkers...one of our few safe havens from rockets, mortars, and small arms fire.

"What's happening here, " we asked? "The President has announced that thousands more of you will soon be going home...and we need to prepare ourselves for that to happen."

"But you can't leave us defenseless...with shrinking numbers and still less protection."

We took a stand with our CO that if they would leave the bunkers there for our protection until our unit was gone, we would find a way to destroy them ourselves on the way out of town.

I don't know if that happened or not, but I remember well the sickening feeling of pending retreat and withdrawal and how very scary it was for all of us remaining.

We need to be strong...consider our options carefully, and not react to fear and pain...but instead the best course that will most likely result in changes that can be lasting and survive the tests of time.

Patience is a very big word when we are losing soldiers to an enemy of hate.

Sunny, I think it does need to end, but we can't just give up. That will only strengthen the resolve of these workers of hatred. We need to show them that we aren't going to let them terrorize the entire world to further their goals. We must!!!!!

It can only come to an end when the Iraqi people have their own government. I remind people that our own freedom, freedom for Europe etc etc comes at a high price. We have to have enough resolve to see this through....

Right MF. There was an article in the Wash. Post last week about South Africa and the trials they are still going through, 10 years later. It's too late to turn back, only time will bring about the needed changes.

Resolve! We must show resolve! Unfortunately, going back to Pres Carter in Iran, to Pres Reagan and the Marine barracks in Beruit, to Somalia and on we have shown a proclivity to run when things get nasty. Today, the terrorist are counting on that. We must put the hammer on these guys!!
